Scarlett Johansson to Star in DreamWorks’ ‘Ghost in the Shell’

Source: The Hollywood Reporter

After proving herself as a formidable action lead in the hit Lucy, Scarlett Johansson is ready to tackle DreamWorks’ Ghost in the Shell.

The actress has signed on to star in the anime-based, live-action thriller, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) will direct from a script written by Bill Wheeler.

Based on the Japanese comic books of the same name, the story follows the exploits of a member of a covert ops unit of the Japanese National Public Safety Commission that specializes in fighting technology-related crime. Back in the fall, THR reported that Johansson had received a $10 million offer to star in the film.

Wait, Amazing Spider-Man 3 Definitely Is Happening?

Source: CinemaBlend

There’s been an ongoing debate of whether or not The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is actually going to happen. Between talks of Marvel Studios taking over the character and potentially ditching Andrew Garfield as lead, and Sony struggling to revive the franchise after not performing as well as they hoped on The Amazing Spider-Man 2, there hasn’t been a clear cut answer on what’s happening with the film. That is until now. A recent casting call for extras proves that The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is definitely happening.

Bill Beckman Casting just sent out a casting call looking for male and female extras of all ages and ethnicities, ages 18-65, and it gives us some more information on the film then we’ve gotten before. First off, it confirms that Sony is the studio producing. It also lists the starring actors as Andrew Garfield and Dane DeHaan with the description, “Peter Parker/Spider-man faces a new challenge to protect New York City”. So it looks like the quirky cute Andrew Garfield will be suiting up as Spider-man once again.

Chris Evans stars in this commercial for Call of Duty Online

The CALL OF DUTY franchise has always been a big seller here in the United States. The games have drawn talented actors like Kevin Spacey while the advertising campaigns have been handled like Hollywood films. The latest entry in the series now has Captain America himself involved.

For the Chinese exclusive game CALL OF DUTY ONLINE, Activision has enlisted Chris Evans to portray, well, himself as he leads a group of gamers against foes big and small. The resulting ad is pretty damn cool and will likely make people wonder why the game isn’t available stateside. For everyone else, just enjoy the production values for this trailer and wonder why we still haven’t seen a CALL OF DUTY feature film.

Channing Tatum’s ‘X-Men’ Spin-Off ‘Gambit’ Coming October 2016

Source: FirstShowing

After being officially attached to the X-Men spin-off focusing on the card-throwing, kinetically charged Cajun mutant Gambit, hot star Channing Tatum has revealed that 20th Century Fox has officially dated the film for release. Tatum took to Twitter with an amusing update that said, “How do you say October 7, 2016 in Cajun?” This comes after we learned on Halloween that RoboCop reboot write Josh Zetumer was hired to script the mutant spin-off film, which has us a little concerned. But the good news is that it’s based on a treatment written by character creator Chris Claremeont, so we’re hoping for the best.
