I wonder how many American DVD players get to Mexico to play other region DVDs? I don't think it would be too hard...
And there's something special about Egypt? It's the only country in Africa in a different region?
AND notice China gets a region all it's own - I'm pretty sure they get most DVDs last too - though that's just an educated guess based on the fact that copies of Time get some articles cut out, and Bibles must be smuggled into the country.

I think DVD is not as popular in China as in other parts of the world, cos they are still embracing the VCD and SVCD formats, not to mention the "prosperity" of video piracy.
I don't think there are many (if there's any!) region 6 DVD are made. You'll find mostly all region DVDs.
I think I originally posted that region map. If we didn't have regions, DVD pirating would skyrocket, and the prices of DVDs everyone here buys would go up several times over. Hooray for regions!

I can see how Pirating and Prices are connected....but I can't see how regions and pirating are connected?
Maybe I'm just tired but could someone explain a little?

Regions were created because mainly of one country.... China. Sine its bootleg heaven there, region were placed at first to ensure the ripping of DVDs were near impossible when they were first released. Unfortunely (but good) multiregion DVD were as well released but after a few months, withdraw from the market only to come back later.
U can see China is its own region!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
That makes more sense now. Thank you very much.
I still find it odd that China has so much censorship, yet bootleg videos and stuff would be such a problem. lol Wouldn't the two kinda cancel each other out? Oh well.
I don't plan on moving any time soon, so I don't have to worry too much about regions :P :)

Would be more worried about the power source of the DVD Player than what region.
