One franchise that started off poorly on DVD was Star Trek. The original series got released in annoying two episodes per disc format. When the time came for The Next Generatin to be released, they started hitting in season box sets - hitting every 6 weeks it seems. Now the next installment in the franchise is coming. Look for the first Deep Space 9 set to hit February 2003, with similar packaging to the Next Generation sets. Maybe they could take a page from the Fox pricing guide and set the MSRP on these babies in the reasonable range.

In my opinion, DS9 is an underrated show.

and this

We're hearing from a number of our retail sources that Paramount has tentatively set February 25th of next year as the launch date for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine on DVD. Expect the complete first season on that date (or thereabouts), with subsequent seasons following every couple of months throughout the rest of 2003. The format and extras for these boxed sets should closely resemble the current The Next Generation DVD sets. And you can reasonably expect Voyager in 2004.
