At another Forum someone from IM posted this about the CD. I appreciate the passion where original trailer music is concerned, as opposed to remixed versions of the cues. The selections we've posted on myspace are intended for a broader audience, where we are trying to introduce people to our sound with hybrid versions of the "songs". The album does contain several trailer cues that are NOT songs, but are as they appear on trailers.

We are also working on a way to give access to the ORIGINAL trailer cues once the CD has been purchased. Haven't finalized the method yet, but basically, one would be able to download the original track that PRELIATOR was derived from (Lacrimosa). This idea exists solely as a nod to you guys, trailer music fans, as we know you are hungry for the source material.

As for the UK only release - to do a broad promotion and distribution on the scale we're planning in the US could not happen without a five fold budget increase. We anticipate an eventual US (and other countries) release after gauging the success/failure of the UK launch. We devote as much time to the concept of a commercial release of IM music as we do to the production of the music itself, and are planning carefully. I know you can appreciate that selling CDs is an entirely new business model for IM and requires strategy and execution that would seek to prevent negative financial results. We do everything on a large level, and want to share our music with the big world out there. We wouldn't be content with selling CDs only to people who already are very familiar with our music!

No you're not the only one Mithrandir, this is pure orchestral commercial crap first class, I can think of a few soundtrack cues that will kick this kind of music's A S S. :boo:

wOw. I never would have thought they'd do this. I guess all our pestering finally paid off! Totally freaking awesome. Even if I would rather have the unadulterated trailer tracks instead of the remixes, I'll buy it just to encourage IM to do more of this in the future. Plus it will be nice being able to get some IM stuff LEGALLY for a change.

I personally think these re-mixes suck. I want the original, un-remixed versions of the songs. I'll wait until they release the originals.

OMG, that looks like my home-video.
Keep in mind that the video quality on Youtube is not the greatest. I have a number of videos hosted on there, and even though I uploaded high quality files, the quality is drastically reduced when you play them on the site. Some of the editing on that video could have been a little bit better done, but overall it was pretty cool, and had decent editing and effects.

I do wish they'd include the original versions of the songs as well though. Adding in rock lyrics just doesn't quite work for IM.

Prod

Problem is most of us have the original songs...

if they were NEW original IM songs on CD...I will CERTAINLY buy...

well even if they released older Cds i'd buy to encourage future releases...but I think these remixes are pretty cool...

ya editing coulda been better but nicely done otherwise :D

Thought I'd chime in.

I work at Immediate Music, and would be happy to answer any reasonable questions you may have concerning the upcoming release of the Globus CD.

We're trying to do something bold and ambitious with this CD. We're doing a major launch initially in the UK and worldwide online stores, with a focus on attempting to market our hybrid style of music to a broad (and unsuspecting) public. We've also got a concert series lined up now, so it's really about presenting the whole trailer music concept to folks beyond our clientele in our industry, and folks enthusiastic about trailer music (you guys). We've always had mainstream sensibilities embedded in our music - on this album we merge that with some other recognizable genres, and bring it to the mainstream market. So we have a wild mix of music styles, all anchored throughout by big orchestra and choir. Some tracks are almost identical to our trailer tracks, some are "songs" written on top of the trailer tracks. These are not tehnically remixes, as every song was taken apart and restarted from scratch.

We're exploring a way to provide a special download to people who purchase the CD in order to obtain some of the original trailer music recordings (from the IM library) from which songs were created. Although many of you have shared and ripped copies from P2P sites, they do not sound half as good as these high quality, remixed and remastered cues. We think that a lot of people formerly unaware of IM and trailer music as a whole, would be interested in hearing some original trailer tracks from some favorite movies.

This is all a big and costly experiment for us. Whether it will succeed or flop commecially is an open question, but at least one thing is certain - there really is nothing commercially similar to it for people to buy. If anything, it will be an archival record of a certain trailer music style that was prevalent in the early part of the 21st century - and heck, it finally gives us an excuse to share our music with many of our fans.

Nice idea eventough I already got a bunch of IM CDs. Interesting remixes but the originals are still WAAAAY better. Abey Road is so far the best orchestral album I heard. I'm wondering when they're making some new orchestral album and hope mixing them together with uptempo beats like they did it with the amazing cue in the van helsign trailer.

Well, this was unexpected.. Is it me, or do the vocals in the first sample sound a LOT like "Jem - They", the vocals of which also sound like the choir in the Myst III theme.. Ironically (I'm guessing) the extra vocals in the second one, which I really like, sound like voices used in the song Welcome on the myst IV soundtrack. The voices in the third one I didn't really care for at all. They're nice, but nothing compared to the majesty of the original. I do however like some of the orchestral re-arrangment. Anyway, if the rest of the songs sound nice enough, I may just buy it to look nice with my Savage Tongue album :)

I'm with the people who think these remixes suck, but of course I'm going to buy it anyway to promote future releases. Damn Immediate Music for forcing me to buy music i don't like! Although if they provide a way to get the original songs after purchasing the cd then that will be fine. I just can't get into the extra vocals. They take away from the awesomeness the original versions had.

I bought it off of iTunes today (I'm actually really surprised, I didn't think they were selling it in America). It isn't the same as their regular trailer tracks, but I was very surprised how good some of them were. Take Me Away and Sarabande Suite sounded boring from the iTunes preview, but it turns out the preview ends right before the song kicked up. Those two tracks are awesome and were completly unexpected.

I only bought it to support them going public, but I'm actually really happy with it.

Anyone else bought it yet?

Well im sure if they don't sell the CD in america you can buy it on ebay

To Prod: You asked about a sound capture program, well thats funny because the name of the program is sound capture, and you can get it from downloads.com, its not illegal and theres unlimited use, ive used it to tape the last 5-10 minutes of POTC, and it turned out to be an awesome track with Jonny Depps last speech. (although I didn't release it on the internet or anything).

Seriously who green lighted the pop vocals which tainted the masterpieces:boo: , really doesnt appeal to me ......... seriously dont get another backstreet boy to vocal over great music its a bit on the fruit side just listening.:upset:

This cd is a spit on the face to real movie trailer music fans, mixing mainstream material with Immediate music is unheard of and should have stayed that way.

Ofcourse this is just another opinion and is not intended to offend.
