also very interesting...

The Xbox has been made to run Microsoft's own operating system, turning it into an ordinary desktop workstation, courtesy of some Linux trickery. The accomplishment is a comment on the insecurity of secure hardware ...

the Xbox is a PC anyways.....
has an Intel P3 733Mhz CPU , 64 MB RAM, and a modified Nvidia GeForce 3 Graphics card, and has a HDD and runs on a scaled down version of Windows 2000...

It may have all those but it was built to be an XBox - not a PC. And since Microsoft loses money on every XBox sale, turning it into a regular PC you can use for normal stuff is a great deal for you. (Saving something like $50-150 US. ?)
The really hard thing they're working on now is to get it to run Linux and I think they're almost there. What a kick in the face that would be! "Hey Microsoft! Yeah I bought your Box, but you lost money and can expect me to buy ZERO games for it, because I'm running Linux! Eat it! :butt:"
Crazy people with too much time on their hands yes, but they are also very smart.

They are working on it. There's a program that is supposed to play HALO on the PC, provided you attach you X-BOX DVD Drive ( boof ) to your PC.
Also, some person managed to convert X-BOX's executables to standard Windows one.
I won't be surprised if Microsoft is the cause of the delay. Because unlike Bleem!, which was incompatible with lots of games, an X-Box emulator once made could run anything.

does that mean you could put a better chip in your xbox.. or a better graphics card to make it run better?
