View Full Version : The Dark Knight (Batman Begins Sequel)

Source (http://http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=6010)

There have been rumors circulating around the normal internet circles that Warner Bros. won't have anything related to the Batman sequel The Dark Knight ready to go for the San Diego Comic-Con.

Well, guess what? That isn't so.

Superhero Hype! has just received confirmation from one of our most reliable sources that Warner Bros. plans on debuting a teaser in front of some screenings of 20th Century Fox's The Simpsons Movie on July 27, which just so happens to be the same day as the Warner Bros. panel at Comic-Con in San Diego. Don't be too surprised if they decide to spring an unannounced premiere of the teaser for The Dark Knight sometime during that 10:30 AM panel. Stay tuned to Superhero Hype! to find out more about this teaser, and remember where you heard it first!

I've actually heard differently. According to a source who spoke with director Christopher Nolan is that they are saving until Wizard World Chicago instead of Comic Con. Essentially, that makes sense, giving the town that will be, for the most part, playing Gotham City the first look.

And I will be at WW Chi.

here's the real description of the teaser...kinda

http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=6040

I have seen The Dark Knight Teaser. I don't want to reveal everything...

It starts out with the WB logo gracing the screen, followed by the DC logo and the Legendary pictures logo. The screen goes black.

It opens back up as a commercial paid for by the friends of Harvey Dent. We are shown shots of him talking, making public speeches, and walking in a suit, while a deep voice comes on and talks about Harvey Dent. A generic politician commercial.

What seems to be halfway through the commercial, it is interrupted by static, and blacks out. Out of nowhere a crystal clear image comes onto the screen of a blacked out man with large windows behind him. The camera slowly zooms in on him. He's talking (about what I won't say) and as he finishes he begins laughing. Lightning strikes, lighting up his face, as the laughter grows more manic. Cut to black.

The Batman Begins (now The Dark Knight's bat) emblem is shown with the words The Dark Knight. Then it says Summer 2008 and has the website at the bottom.

What is said... is a surprise that I must keep for now. It gave me chills.

I agree but the problem with the Cloverfield teaser, although it's brilliant, confused a lot of people. When I saw it in front of Transformers, all my friends and a number of people around us basically said WTF at the end. It served it's purpose as it got people to take notice and talk about it but I think it's safe to assume that most of them forgot about it afterwards.

This isn't even a teaser. It's almost a teaser for a teaser. Just seeing the logo and hearing the Joker gets a Batman fan like me going but it probably won't do much for your average person. The description that hlbimage described earlier in this thread would have been a much better teaser.

According to aintitcool, it's looking like Sunday night for the real version to go online.

And it looks like it will be posted here:

http://atasteforthetheatrical.com/

Now, the note on the site says "It's what you have been waiting for" which could certainly mean the trailer, but it's also possible that the trailer will go online tonight and that Sunday will bring an online version of the first 7 minutes of the film that's being shown before IMAX shows of I Am Legend.

Anything's possible, but I'm just not convinced that they're going to put the first 7 minutes online this early, but it would be great if they would. :)

Hope this is useful information.

I doubt they'll even release the 7 minute prologue online. I think it's just an exclusive IMAX thing. The only time we might get it online is maybe close to when the movie actually opens.

Sadly, I agree.

Then again, in the last week, we had multi-minute openings/scenes from Cloverfield, I Am Legend, and AVP2, so I suppose anything is possible. :)

But I think you're absolutely right, it would be silly to make something IMAX exclusive only to release it online with 48 hours.

I'm guessing we'll get the 7-minute clip online within a few weeks of the release date.

scoop from Movieweb:

Fans have been waiting for the next trailer for The Dark Knight almost since the moment the first one was released. Then, with Heath Ledger's unexpected death, everyone began to wonder whether or not the next trailer would feature the Australian star. Now, IGN.com reports that the next trailer will air with Warner Bros' prehistoric epic 10,000 B.C..

According to the report, this trailer will feature less of the Joker, and pay more attention to Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) and Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart).

Christopher Nolan, who directed The Dark Knight, has said before that while the Joker is important to the film, the main story arc really focuses on District Attorney Harvey Dent, who will eventually become the villainous Two-Face.

That actually was exactly what I expected to see in the next trailer, even before Heath Ledger's death. There were virtually nothing on Harvey Dent in Trailer #1, with only one fleeing shot of Aaron Eckhart. It'll make more sense if the next trailer shows more of him and (unless there will be a trailer #3, which I doubt) Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal) with dialogues.

It's like how each Attack of the Clones teaser/trailer focused on different aspects of the film ("Mystery" on Obiwan & Anakin, "Forbidden Love" on Padmé & Anakin, "Clone War" on the War itself.)

A little bit more than two weeks to go. Can't wait. :D

I second this motion...

I am a film critic and at the screening for 10,000 BC on Wed. (I was unable to attend), I was told by a few fellow critics that they played the secodn trailer and not the new one.

I just checked the WB press site and there isn't any mention of it being pushed back. Then again, there's not anything saying it was going to come with 10,000 BC

good news! looks like the Dark Knight IMAX Prologue will be getting an official release after all, but on the upcoming Batman Begins Blu-Ray/HD-DVD re-release the week before the movie is released. Here's the article:

Batman Begins catapults into the high definition age on July 8th with the Blu-ray™ Hi-Definition release from Warner Home Video. Batman Begins has already been well received in high definition, as the HD DVD release is the top catalog HD seller.

Three new DVD editions -- two on Blu-ray™ Hi-Definition and one in Standard Definition -- will be released prior to the July 18th nationwide theatrical release of Warner Bros. Pictures' The Dark Knight.

Leading the Blu-ray™ Hi-Def pack is the Batman Begins Limited Edition Gift Set ($49.99 SRP). The single disc Blu-ray™ Hi-Def Gift Set also includes The Dark Knight prologue" (the first six minutes of the film), a Batman Begins motion art lenticular, a 32-page booklet including an all-new DC Comics comic book adaptation of The Dark Knight prologue, exclusive photos, script pages and story boards. This Gift Set will also include five Batman Begins collectible postcards with never-before printed key art from the theatrical release, as well as $7.50 "movie cash" towards the purchase of an adult ticket to see The Dark Knight in theatres.

A single disc Blu-ray™ Hi-Def version ($28.99 SRP) of Batman Begins will also be available. This also features The Dark Knight prologue.

Batman Begins Limited Edition Gift Set will also be available in a 2-Disc Standard Definition ($39.92 SRP) version. This Gift Set will include a 128MB Batman branded flash drive, five Batman Begins collectible postcards with never-before printed key art from the theatrical release, as well as $7.50 "movie cash" towards the purchase of an adult ticket to see The Dark Knight in theatres.

ok, then. if anyone here will be willing to rip the prologue off one of these versions come July 8th into a Quicktime file and post the download link via on here, by all means let me know. I'd REALLY love to have it, as would the rest of us on here.

The various addresses around the world are interesting. The london one was for 17 Queensway. I live about 10 mins away and I know it's the IceRink. I'm tempted to go and ask for the package for Bobo :D

If anyone else tries any of the addresses please post :yay:

The addresses are long since used up. Apparently each was a bowling alley and the first person to each location received a bag with a bowling ball, a joker and some other swag. Once each location had been visited (and stamped on the site), the new page where you enter your name and phone number opened up.

The real question is what happens now? Will something else be unlocked once enough people enter their phone numbers? Will we all receive a call one day telling us where to go to see the new trailer? Curious stuff....

From Sci-Fi Wire

Fans at New York Comic Con previewed a new trailer for The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan's latest chapter in the Batman saga, which featured a new look at Harvey "Two-Face" Dent (Aaron Eckhart) and the Joker (the late Heath Ledger) putting the moves on Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal, replacing Katie Holmes).

The new trailer, which clocked in at slightly more than two minutes, also featured Dawes facilitating the first meeting between Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) and Dent and the Joker addressing a gathering of Gotham's criminal leaders. Toward the end, Dent gives Wayne an ominous warning: "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

Paul Levitz, DC Comics President, introduced the trailer as a surprise during a panel for The Incredible Hulk on April 19 and just before the surprise unveiling of a new Speed Racer trailer.

The trailer will hit theaters in a couple of two weeks. The Dark Knight opens July 18.

Gather with 300 of your closest friends at this exact spot on April 28th.

You'll need to be in contact with a partner-in-crime who has online access to relay your instructions once you're there. These instructions will give you the TRAIL to follow, but be sure to look both ways when crossing the street; we wouldn't want you to make an unscheduled visit to the ER now, would we?

Put on a smile and plan to spend about an hour or so bonding with your fellow clowns.

Check back here often for updates or changes.

My understanding is that (duh), in those specific cities, follow the instructions and you'll get a 6 digit code to 'crack the safe'. Once you do so, you'll probably get to see the new trailer. (Since I don't live in anywhere in the US I can't verify that.)

Meanwhile, if you now click on the lever you'll get to see the (final?) poster:

Yea I get the whole 'safe' thing but seeing as how I'm not into the entire viral thing I'm looking for a way of seeing the trailer without driving 4 hours to the nearest city to get a code. :P

That poster has been up for a few days, check the other thread here... (http://www.movie-list.com/forum/showthread.php?p=169367#post169367) I posted a couple of other new posters in there, character ones.

Anybody go to any of the events in any of the cities whose time has already expired? Not that it helps much... but here are some of the codes:

Boston (43-26-76)
Philadelphia (26-16-06)
New York (33-80-89)
Toronto (32-60-68)
Chicago (98-20-49)

Once you open the safe, it gives you more instructions that you are supposed to relay the person on the ground, and he'll get more info.

I'm sorry, but I have to really call BS to WB on this one. Just post the silly trailer already. I've defended viral marketing to a bunch of people, and I still think it can be fun, but this feels like a complete bait and switch. Not that it will matter, the movie will still be a big hit and I'll still be there opening weekend, but I hate feeling jerked around. Don't get me wrong, it's their product, they can market it as they please and certainly aren't obligated to anyone to post their trailer at any given time, but how hard would it be to post a notice like everyone else does lately? "We're having a viral campaign on Monday the 28th with the trailer going onlne the following Sunday." They could have posted that two weeks ago and there wouldn't have been any expectations.

Frankly, I hope people continue to bootleg the crap out of the trailer and they end up having to post it early. :)

The bootleg looks like small grapes compared to the full quality. This is easily my most anticipated film of the year.

The added quality also allows you to see the shot of Dent with the gun (2:03) is Two-Face. Also, doesn't Joker look pissed at the burning money at 1:32?

Looks great so far. Do you guys think this will do better than the first film? Personally, I wasn't too fond of the first film. I thought it was lacking a bit of make-believe. Sure, I know the director was going for realism, but I wouldn't mind some over-the-top action scenes.

But so far, the trailers and tv spots look great.

Yeah, that car chase through Gotham, with the Batmobile jumping from rooftop to rooftop, that was just entirely too believable.

Yeah, that car chase through Gotham, with the Batmobile jumping from rooftop to rooftop, that was just entirely too believable.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm talking about. As an action-scene, I felt like that was just decent, but not great. No explosions, no cars flying all over the place, etc. I know the director wanted to keep things grounded, but a little pizazz wouldn't hurt.

That's why I like the new Batman and the main reason I dislike this new crop of comic book/superhero films (Incredible Hulk as recent example) that have been thrust upon us.

Nolan sums it up well in a recent interview

Source (http://www.wired.com/entertainment/hollywood/magazine/16-07/ff_darknight?currentPage=1)

"Anything you notice as technology reminds you that you're in a movie theater," Nolan explains. "Even if you're trying to portray something fantastical and otherworldly, it's always about trying to achieve invisible manipulation." Especially, he adds, with Batman, "the most real of all the superheroes, who has no superpowers."

oh! BTW, present (to) u guys: A GOOD QUALITY DARK KNIGHT PROLOGUE FROM THE BATMAN BEGINS BLU-RAY!

Somebody should have mentioned:

1) This is a camcorder screen recording of the prologue, not a direct rip of the blu-ray disc.

2) It is incomplete (well he did mention it's cut off early but just to make it blantantly clear).

The effort, however, is appreciated.

Saw it this morning at a screening at George St. cinemas in Sydney. Absolutely outstanding. My expectations were so high is was going to be near impossible for this film to meet them, but is blew them away completely. A real stunner. As soon as the credits rolled, I wanted to watch it again, immediately. Not one fault in it. Except perhaps, it was two short!! At two and a half hours! It was getting close to the climax and I just didn't want it to end. Ledger was fabulous of course and all the raves are justified.. but I don't think enough has been said about Eckhardt. He is truly brilliant and the Two-Face effects are amazing, it doesn't look artificial at all. Nobody will dislike this film, nobody, it is such a crowd pleaser, hits all the right notes.

Anyway, end rave. Wait patiently, it is well worth it. I'm seeing it again on the 14th, this time with a bigger audience.

All the afternoon shows for Thursday, Friday and Saturday on Imax are sold out here in the Universal Citywalk Imax theater. I had some friends that tried buying tickets to same show as mine just the day after I bought my tixs but unfortunately it was sold out already. Oh well I got my IMAX tixs! lol

Saw Dark Knight today.

Brace yourselves guys and gals, for something truly haunting yet beautiful.

Saw this at the Navy Pier IMAX last night with a bunch of critics and lemme tell you......this thing is a beast. My expectations were EXTREMELY HIGH and yet when the end credits started I was speechless at how amazing it was. I thought Iron Man would be the summer film to beat but Dark Knight just destroyed it. This is the real deal folks, the real deal.

Sensational. About time too.

Not really a request or a demand, but if only someone can find/provide a version of the 2-minute sneak peek from the Batman Begins Limited Edition DVD Gift Set (see post #205, 206) that is not encoded in crappy DivX, it'll be perfect.

As for locating a source, a certain member I know will probably get this on hand in the following weeks. Not sure it will arrive before July 17 though. :(

Can someone upload the file to something other than rapidshare please?
I'm having problems downloading from their site at the moment.

Here's a 720p/5.1 version of the prologue. It's 350 MB and a .mkv file. It's playable on VLC player.

Uploaded to the Public FTP:

The Dark Knight - Sneek Peek (2.35:1, non-anamorphic, 98MB)

Sorry to be late, but it's literally just been delivered.

Rather than requesting/begging/demanding/threatening for it, how about an exchange: I will personally give 180 vBux to anyone who first encodes this into Quicktime (640x & cropped to original aspect ratio preferred) and post it to the Forum. 180 is not much, I know, but that's all I've got at the moment.

Mind you, the video quality of the source is less than expectation (non-anamorphic, ghosting, DD2.0 instead of 5.1 etc). I'm not expecting a mircale. I just want the damn thing in QT instead of DivX so hopefully my (and some others') Dark Knight trailer backup will be complete. Thank you.

(EDIT BTW I did mirror this to another file hosting site, but I won't post the link to the public Forum in case Warner Bros demands it to be taken down - strictly speaking you should buy the giftset to get it. Anyone interested in helping out but can't access the Public FTP please PM me. ;) )

is this the same sneak peek as the one posted on aol?

The AOL Sneek Peek is actuall domestic trailer #1, not the Sneek Peek (aka "Wizard World footage") that comes with the re-released BB DVD.

If needed i can encode the sneak peek posted here to Quicktime AVC format. but how do i get the source. Please let me know.

It's already been taken care of. Don't worry about it.
