huh, & I thought that only part 1, 2 & 3 exists... :D
http://us.imdb.com/Find
Wong Fei-hung (1991)
(Once Upon a Time in China (1991)
Wong Fei-hung ji yi: Naam yi dong ji keung (1992)
(Once Upon a Time in China II (1992)
Wong Fei-hung tsi sam: Siwong tsangba (1993)
(Once Upon a Time in China III (1993)
Huang Fei-hung zhi sei: Wang zhe zhi feng (1993)
(Once Upon a Time in China IV (1993)
Huang Fei-hung zhi wu: Long cheng jian ba (1994)
(Once Upon a Time in China V (1994)
Wong Fei-hung chi saiwik hung si (1997)
(Once Upon a Time in China VI (1997)
Yeah I only knew about 4 of them till I got the trilogy box set and one of the extra's said there had been 6. 1-3 are brilliant, among the best martial arts films ever made. Jet Li has such an authoritive presence in these films.:D
I saw 6 a while ago, also known as Once upon a time in China and America, but it's not as good as the first 3. Features the character going to the wild west. The idea was stolen from Jackie Chan that he later truned into Shanghi Noon. I didn't like it as much but I was watching a friends video, so I didn't have the benefit of watching it in chinese like I can with DVD, so who knows.
BTW there's actually a few more than 6 but they didn't all star Jet Li. Once upon a time in China 2 was actually number 100 in the series. Sorry I'm not looking for info on all of them.
There are only 6 movies.... with Jet Li in 4 of them.... I've seen all with Jet Li.... I, II, III and VI - Once Upon a Time in China & America
Yes there are only 6 films called once upon a tim e in China, but the character has been in over a hundred films. On the back of the box when it gives a plot description for OUATIC2 it says that it was the hundredth film to feature the character making it the longest running film series in history.:butt:

http://www.ymdb.com/user_top20_view.asp?usersid=2330.
Lafce 01-20-2003, 10:33 PM I did some changes in my TOP 20 list. (http://www.ymdb.com/user_top20_view.asp?usersid=1715) The movies are the same, I just added "LOTR: The Two Towers", meaning one movie had to be droped and it was Romero's "Day of The Dead" (I can see tisoy smiling ;))...I also changed the places of some of the movies (after some thinking :P). Now all (first) three "Star Wars" movies (now I can see Jedi Master smiling) and all three "Indiana Jones" movies are in the top 10 ...what can I do - I just love them :D. I'm still not completely sure about the order, but that's basically it.
Speaking of "The Two Towers" - I've watched it twice (in cinema) in 4 days, and it's a fantastic movie...BUT - as a big fan of the book I have to say I don't like some of the changes they've made...I know movies are different media and some changes had to be made, but I think P.J. could have done it better. It could have been 10/10 (now i rate it 9.5/10 :))
Anyway - the movie as a movie is truly amazing.
BTW - I think the "Fellowship' is better, but let's wait for the Extended Version of "TTT".
I also make some changes (see link below). I drop all NON Sci-Fi out & made only TOP 20 Sci-Fi movies... :D ;)

Kn'thrak 02-23-2003, 01:40 AM Latest editions have been added. Everyone has their own impressive lists!
I've made some changes to my list. I watched The Insider again and it was even better than I remembered. I've moved that one up my list, it's now #10. I also saw One Hour Photo with Robin Williams, and even though it's not to popular I loved it. As far as pure suspense goes it's the best since Hitchcock and actually managed to grip me more than some of the masters films. Sadly Arachnophobia had to go.

Dear YMDb users,
I have decided to switch the site to a read-only mode. This decision was a tough one but I didn't manage to secure enough money for a better hosting service.
So yes, YMDb is indeed victim of its own success :(
Maybe someday I'll have the time and energy to seriously search for a long term partner. Then I'll re-open the site in a third phase... Maybe...
In the meantime, you'll still be able to see the lists, delete the comments you don't like on your list consult the top/worst lists, edit your profile,... You can also ask me to delete your list.
Anyway I want to thank you all for your support in this project. It was fun and exiting.
I feel privileged to have met some really interesting movie-lovers and community addicts that made the enormous amount of time I have spent in the site worthwhile.
A very special thanks to John, Rik and Ion who helped me when I couldn't do everything anymore. Also thanks to the users who kept coming back every day and who became more than just users of YMDb. You know who you are but for a complete list check the most visited page!
You can still contact me at info@ymdb.com
Bye!

NO. (sadly) not anymore. read again/more:
Welcome to YMDb, Your Movie Database. The site is now in a read-only mode but you can still discover past users' favorite movies. The other functionalities are not available anymore.
redorblue01 02-24-2004, 06:04 PM Sorry, I just didn't understand why...
Kn'thrak 02-25-2004, 03:39 AM I had a chat with the creator of YMDb and he said the costs were too great to keep this popular site up. That was the reason the site was shutdown and no one can register.
It was a great idea tho.
redorblue01 02-25-2004, 09:55 PM This may sound really ignorant but what makes a web site cost so much?
Kn'thrak 02-25-2004, 10:09 PM hosting costs!! To host on a server costs money but as the site becomes popular, more traffic comes to the server therefore you have to pay more to the hosting company for the traffic that is coming through on your site.
Host costs vary but are normally made by determining:
Space for the website
Bandwidth
Server features
Maintance
... are the most popular ones. The problem with YMDb it become too popular and from day one there were server problems. It was being hit too hard too offen. It had no advertising or anything to generate money so the admin could not (most likely) fork out all the money to keep the site up.
JustRising 04-23-2004, 04:46 PM Is the site completly shut down, I was just gonna check it out but i can't find it any where!?
corfy 04-23-2004, 04:51 PM Sure looks that way. I can't find it, either.

http://www.ymdb.com/user_top20_view.asp?usersid=17573
site seems to be down right now, but when it comes back up I will make the most serious change I've ever made to this list. While the 15-20 spots have changed recently this movie jumps straight to NUMBER 2!
REQUIEM FOR A DREAM
it officially pushes back Saving Private Ryan to #3, a film that only yesterday looked like it was gonna stay there forever.
NO movie I ever saw actually came close to replacing Fight Club if only for a minute.
REQUIEM FOR A DREAM absolutely blew my mind. Everything about this movie is done so well and it has such an impact, this movie depressed me, disturbed me, made me wanna cry laugh vomit pray whatever, just plain ****ING great. It should be required viewing for all these kids that wanna make it as drug dealers, especially where the movie takes place in Coney Island, about a 2 miles from where I live. Just as Fight Club fought the Addiction to society, this movie fights addiction to everything
IamJack'sFinger 07-24-2004, 12:34 AM Glad to hear that you are a fan of Requiem For A Dream it is one of my favorites as well i think that ellen burstyn was Phenominal(Was robbed when she did not win the oscar) and Marlon wayans proved that he can actually do more than comedy Also Keith David was great as always he is always a great addition to any cast

guests 07-07-2005, 09:25 PM movies for me break down differently than a top 20 list or any type of list. i give them three catagories, because alot of movies i can't decide which are better. the three catagories are: average movies, above average, and amazing movies. not too many get to the last one. i don't count crappy movies because they are crap.
average: what women want, anger managment, meet the parents, starski and hutch, madagascar, robots, miss congeniality... etc. these movies aren't good but are better than crap because they try to send a message. but just one.
above average: crouching tiger hiden dragon, vanilla sky, the usual suspects, saving private ryan (sorry jake, you should check out band of brothers though, it's the same kinda stuff but a series worth, [oh side note: whole thing was done on a built set]), momento, hitch hikers guide to the galaxy (book was much much much better), saw, and so on and so forth. these movies break the wall of only trying to portray one message but fail in meeting the next criterion.
amazing movies: pulp fiction, fight club, and maybe donnie darko is somewhere in between above average and amazing, haven't seen it enough times to judge, and finally my soon to be movie "Who is Geppetto?" muhuhahaha. maybe not we'll see. anyway these movies kick some serious tush in the movie world and are far beyond the stuff listed above. i will delve into pulp fiction to state my point. for those who haven't seen it. you should have coz i'm gonna ruin it. pulp fiction is so layered that at first glance it would look like an ordinary movie. the subtlety of the doors to it's layers are mind blowing. for instance usually when i see a movie and it's all chopped up i think it's pointless. no reason for this whatsoever. but then i saw something that caught my attention. marcelous wallas has a bandaid on his neck. it has been emphasized by how long the camera stays on it. now this would go unnoticed if some knowledge on the subject wasn't there. according to religious beliefs if one sells his/her soul to the devil he will pull it out of the back of their neck. i only made this connection when i realised they never once show what is inside the brief case. my guess is he's jackin his soul back. now; to jump back to the chopped up nature of this film i begin to get in the mindstate of religion, and remember calvanism (pre destination). the belief that everything has already happened and will happen again. i think the reason why it's so chopped up is because of the characters experiences such as jewls winfeild's witnessing of devine intervention. everyone is given a choice of be damned or be blessed, as if god is busy in the process of deciding what will happen and is writing out history aka his PULP FICTION. if you look very closely when the guy hiding in the john with a hand cannon pops out to shoot jewls and vincint, you'll notice that before he shoots the bullet holes are already in the wall. maybe this is a mistake in production, but it supports my oppinion of calvanism. and there is still alot more stuff in there that i am yet to find. this would be an ordinary gangster movie but these things open up many more areas of subtlety that would go unnoticed and need to be looked at again. so thats a little taste of pulp fictions amazingness, some of the things in it are pretty obscure and need to have outside knowledge to know what is being talked about, but it can be watched 100's of times and you'll still find more. just found many more things recently but too much to talk about coz i wanna go on to fight club. haha lots to say, i love this kinda stuff. i won't waste any more of your time like i did with pulp fiction but some things to look for to get the same stuff out of it: quesiton who is in the corner of the television when "jack" is in the hotel explaining all of his single serving items, and the group of waiters say "welcome!"?, in the crash scene who is the chauffer actually talking to before tyler and jack get in and which side of the car does jack get out of after the crash? why does tylers appearance change towards the end? what is jack's real name? anyway thats that. nothing to say on donnie darko yet but it had something.
