Does anyone know if there is going to be another new "Signs" trailer before the August release? I love that they're being very secretive about the movie, but come one. A few more hints to tide me over!

Thnx.

True, true. It's good they aren't giving away too much. Delayed self-gratification is the definition of maturity. (Inwardly: dammit!! I want to see more!!)
I'm going to be looking forward to this one all summer long.

I have seen the trailer... It doesn't give away too much in my opinion. If you consider M Night Shymalan's other flicks you never really know what gonna happen at the end. "Unbreakable" was a bit of a surprise as was the ending of "Sixth Sense" It's a kewl trailer... also the site for the movie is pretty rad too. It gives all sorts of peripheral info on alien stuff related to the movie but doesn't give any plot ending away.

I can't wait to see this... I hate scary movies though. I get all nervous about getting scared... and then I never do. It's pretty sad, but I'll definitely see this when it comes out.

Yeah, I'm the same way with scary movies. Or just intense movies. Once the Black Hawk Down started, my knee couldn't stop bouncing.
Signs is definitely going to be just as intense. Even the trailers freak me out. (I know, I'm a dork.)
There's a debate going as to whether or not M. Night will have is staple surprise ending. Apparently he and Mel Gibson has said there won't be one. It doesn't even matter to me, though. I have so much faith in Shylamalan that he could tell me the ending today and I'd still pay to see the film.

I've heard that "ending" debate and like you said, it's not going to matter much, because Shyamalan's sure to do something really cool. I noticed some new commercials on TV and they looked great. I'll be on the edge of my seat biting my nails--I know that much already. It's going to be great.

I saw a trailer for Signs before Minority Report but I don't know if was a new one. I certainly hadn't seen it at all before. It was longer then the previous two trailers and ended with a scene of Mel Gibson in his corn field fussing with his flashlight.
It was a great trailer and had a wonderful scare at the end that had my gf clutching my hand and whispering, "I want to see that."

I don't think there should have been anymore teasers than the first one.
It was perfect. It was creepy, didn't give anything away, and made me desperate to see this movie (and it was over half a year away at that point).
I hope the new trailers don't do anymore than that, the latest one is starting to ruin it.

I thought this movie looked really good and scary, but I watched a documentary about crop circles on Yahoo and it was awesome. I always just kind of figured they were fake and a joke, but the people on this docu were so convincing. I thought shyamalan was going to create a really scary plot, but I think he's just going to be adding onto one.

In some early reviews it was stated, that Signs is not just a scary movie, it's more like a horror film .... Yippiiiiie.
GloryGirl
07-09-2002, 01:09 PM
So what's the difference? I usually associate horror with Freddy Krueger, gory stuff. That doesn't seem like Shyamalan's style at all. His stuff seems to focus more on the intellectual side of fear.
Mischa
07-09-2002, 01:16 PM
Actually that's exactly the point... a slight diversion of his 'intellectual style'. If the infos are true, the viewer will be eventually shocked ... and I guess that could be his intention ... to surprise his audience.

I don't like being surprised in scary movies... but I like going to them. It's kinda masochistic I guess.... anyway, hopefully there will be no broken wrists.... And I really like what Night's done so far. Just enough to tell you what might be there... Then scaring your pants off when you finally do go. I'll be first in line the night this comes out at AMC.
GloryGirl

Yeah, Shyamalan's always been good at suprising his audiences. But I've heard rumors that this one will not be having a twist ending. So I guess he'll be taking us off guard in some other way...

I caught the craziest interview last night on MTV. It was the front man of Blink-182 interviewing Mel Gibson. The questions were really weird and they didn't talk too much about the movie, itself, but Mel was awesome during it and seemed like a really good guy. He made some interesting comments about his impressions of Crop Circles, Aliens and Raspberries.

thanks for the link.... was a funny interview :big grin: :big grin:
some things he mentioned about the movie
Gibson: Well, I think that perhaps crop circles is kind of the main device in the film, although it's not really what the film is about, it's about something far greater.
DeLonge: Yeah, it's about the family, it's about losing faith, all those things.
Gibson: The crop circle thing, my opinion is that it's probably mostly a hoax. But there are certain sizes of crop circles and geometrical patterns that can only be viewed from high above that are kind of unexplained. You can't logically make sense of them in a way that you can say, "Some guys did that last night." I'm willing to concede that there could be something out there creating this strange phenomenon. But they'd have to prove it to me, I'll tell ya. Just like this cake. Who do you think made this cake? Look at the multi-layers of it. This one's 2000 years old. As we go up the strata, you'll notice that there are small sea creatures in here. This is from the Mesozoic era.
DeLonge: I studied some of these signs, too. Hey, it was great meeting you and I have a feeling that your people want you out of here.
.
this movie looks like its gonna end up like Contact, well i really dont know and i dont want to know anything more than what the trailers gave.... i want to be surprised when i watch this movie:D

shymalan ended sixth sense and unbreakable pretty surprising. you're like wow i didnt see that coming. i know some people who already knew bruce willis wuz already dead in the sixth sense before the ending. but a lot of people didn't know such as myself. i wuz shocked. unbreakable ended pretty surprising too. sorta weird but cool. so i cannot wait to see signs. and i'm pretty sure it will end in his style. woa didnt see that coming and ah that makes sense. :P

Okay, I've seen some of these screen shots before and I can't tell what I'm supposed to be looking at in the crop shots. What the heck is supposed to be there? Is it some kind of leg? Am I looking in the totally wrong area of corn? This is driving me nuts. I'm so hyped on this movie that I've been obsessed with getting info. Now I can't figure out the info! Argh.

AICN had a bunch of reviews from test screeners a couple months ago-And they all said that there's no twist in the end.

Thanks for the screens tisoy. the second pic was the one I noticed in the tv spot. It must be a foot or hand of some kind. Come to think of it, it looks like a dinosaur foot. And the leg in the lower right hand corner of the fourth pic is very creepy. This movie is gonna kick @$$!!:big grin: :big grin:

Did you guys see the movie review on Ain't It Cool? Some lucky guy got to see an advance screening. I'm so jealous! He confirms that there is no surprise ending but didn't reveal too much else. Made some interesting comments about how the movie is less of a sci-fi thriller than people expect it to be.
I want to hear what you guys think about the review. Here's the link:

It looks like Signs is going to be as good as I expect. I'm excited about seeing Shyamalan stray from his usual surprise ending because i think his work gets overlooked by people who see him as a director who depends on his ability to surprise.

I kind of agree with you there in that I'm mixed on AICN. I did enjoy reading it though. I actually found this earlier this morning and liked the way he described it. I'm not familiar with the site so I'm taking everything with a grain of salt, but I like the way he discusses the tone of Signs. Maybe because it sounds as I've expected--thrilling throughout. I'll be excted for more reviews over the days leading up to the opening.
