Does anybody know which is the correct bitrate to encode a trailer (2 minutes) from .vob to avi with the Flaskmpeg and the cinepak codec? I use this codec because I then encode the avi to mov, and I dont know other codecs that the quicktime pro recognize.

ohhh nooo dont use cinepak codec...
convert the vob to uncompressed avi 2 mins would be around 2GB of video data uncompressed, then from there u can open it in QT 6 pro and compress it to sorenso or QT 6 mpeg4
200k/s or about 1700kbps is a good bitrate for 640 res video...
but this is just the easy way, to make real good quality DVD rips of trailers u need more tools, u need to edit the VOB, re crop it and when compressing make use of the 2 pass function, this means the encoder will make 1 pass to see what the video contains, so that is can put proper data on fast and slow scenes...
ask Mark Strube for more infos, he will teach you and also maybe tell you where to get the codecs and softwares

Thank you for the information, but I dont have 2gb in my disk for this. Is there any other way?
Besides, when you explain the 2 pass, you are talking ībout the Quicktime, right? What about the program to modify the .vob?

go here and download virtualdub mpeg2
http://es.geocities.com/dextstuff/
it will poen and allow you to edit any ripped vob file and convert to any codec u have.
for 2 pass Sorenso 3 u need Sorenso 3 and at least Squeeze installed to make the QT version.
