Stripping off to protest about military action in Iraq is spreading, with former Miss Bulgaria Tania Karabelova appealing for peace outside the US embassy in Sofia.

With only her nation's flag draper about her, the former beauty queen braved the winter cold to display her peace placard.

The organiser of the protest, journalist Martin Karbovski, said she was "neither for Iraq, nor against the United States, but for peace".

Bulgaria, a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, has signalled its support for a second resolution paving the way for military intervention in Iraq.

that is sooo uncalled for... who would protest for world peace like that?? i don't think she gives a damn. she's probably thinking she's carrying a banner saying "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn"

I dunno, the idea of a protest is to get people's attention. And a good-lookin' naked woman with a peace banner will do a much better job of winning me to another person's side than, say, having a couple hundred people lie down in the middle of 5th Ave. in rush hour, as was the case this morning.

I would probably give her more attention without that flag ;)

But yeah - what turns heads is what works.
