View Full Version : Problem with front page?

This started yesterday for me...Most of the time when I try to get to the site (either through my favorites or by typing it into the address bar) I get this window:

You are downloading the file
/ from movie-list[1]

[Save] [Open] [Cancel] [More Info]

??? The files name is "/" with no extention. Of course, I don't download it. And the front page won't load. This happened a few times since yesterday, and I wasn't going to report it because I though it had been fixed when it didn't happen. But now it's back....

Any thoughts? Is it the new server? My computer? Both? Neither?

Any help would be great....

Anyone else having this problem?

Browser = IE 6.0
OS = Windows ME {shutters}

It didn't do it this time.... but earlier today it did. :confused:
So sometimes I can get in and sometimes I can't.

I think I may have found the culprit to the frontpage problem.

Let me know if it happens anymore.

it just happened.

So I tried to find a work around. I typed " http://www.movie-list.com/commingsoon " and was brought to the 404 error page. From there I can access anything along the side bar except for the front page when the error is happening.

Very strange because it's on and off... :confused: :confused:

Strange... i thought it was the Javascript for the Gilette ad running on the index page.
Guess it wasn't.

Happening to anyone else?

To me, but not for a while.

Just happened again.
It's not a big deal, I can always come right to the fourms and then to the trailers from there.

But I'm sure less tech-savvy people just turn away.

Has anyone tried downloading the file?

I've downloaded the file.
It's a 2 or 3k binary file.
No idea what it is.

After you download it, does it bring you to the front page? Or do you still have the problems?

Once you download it, it dosen't do anything.

That was strange...

This time, rather then the download promp or the front page, I think I got the file :confused:

Random characters, mostly upper ASCII? It's kinda long. And like you said JP, it's about 3kb.

Well, somebody must have done something. But after trying to load the page AFTER that (refresh doesn't work) it was fine.

Getting closer? Maybe?

Okay... we've made some adjustments (had to do with mod_gzip).

Let me know if it happens again.
