bendermac 08-20-2003, 03:00 AM thanks mark :)
did you notice that your trailer is a bit too dark? btw, matrix revolutions was dark too ;)
Mark Strube 08-20-2003, 03:04 AM I dunno I haven't changed any screen calibrations for a long time, and the brightness on it is as perfectly calibrated as it's gonna get... nobody else has mentioned anything... perhaps you've changed something?
bendermac 08-20-2003, 03:11 AM i just checked may and master and commander you've encoded and they are just fine. only the ones i mention are affected.
edit: lol, affected is the correct word and not infected :embarasse
Mark Strube 08-20-2003, 03:15 AM hehe don't you mean "affected"? I sure hope my trailers aren't infected. ;)
The only possible explanation is that I didn't put it into MJPEG before encoding to QuickTime, I only used uncompressed AVI for these last two. But your T3 trailer does look as if it has too much brightness with not enough contrast, so I'm gonna wait for more opinions.
Guiboche 08-20-2003, 03:38 AM Is this worthy of forum exclusive material? It pre-dates 1999, plus I sent this to Jean long time ago already for placement in the Classics.
Mark Strube 08-20-2003, 03:58 AM I don't know you'd have to take it up with JP... I didn't see it in the future classics listing, figured it wouldn't be a big deal.
Oh and could you delete your double post please?
trailergod 08-21-2003, 07:20 PM its fine its not dark at all (at least for windows users)....
it is indeed darker on the MAC... (bender uses a MAC G4.... shhhh!!)
MAC sucks.... hehehehe j/k

and blows... and G4 is now too slow... (It ryhmes!) :P
As for the Exclusiveness of the trailer, hey I don't mind. I'd personally like to see the rule of trailers before 1998/9 abolished so that there'll be more great trailers from further back posted here.

Yeah I do agree... anyways the exclusives are for members only, if JP wants to make one a Classic, only a small fraction of site users will already have it. But if I see that it's an upcoming classic I won't post it.
Guiboche 08-22-2003, 08:18 PM Is it really a forum exclusive then if it's planed to be in the classics. Maybe you should move this to the trailer news section :P

It's exclusive now isn't it? ;)

Not really ;)
Mark Strube 08-24-2003, 06:50 PM lol I must admit I don't get the point you're attempting to make.
Jean-Pierre Bazinet 08-24-2003, 08:34 PM The story.
Guiboche gave me this trailer to post as a classics ages ago.
But it sat on my hard-drive because I had other (in my opinion, better) things going up first.
Then the exclusive went up, and all the fuss started.
The truth is, I should have let Guiboche know it wasnt going up for awhile, and he would have posted it here. So it's my fault.
I'm trying to keep the classics list more up-to-date (with whats coming up), so hopefully we won't run into the same problem again.
Mark Strube 08-24-2003, 09:42 PM Well, if I had known it would cause such a fuss, I wouldn't of posted it. I just figured since this isn't exactly considered one of the best movies out there, you weren't really planning on making it a Classic, so I made it an exclusive.
I guess we really can't let ourselves get upset about someone posting a trailer that you were intending on having posted or already encoded or were planning on doing etc. It happened to me with The Matrix Reloaded and the ROTK teaser, now its happened to Guiboche, can't cry over spilled milk I guess. :geek:
And from now on if it's pre-1999 I'll check with JP first.
Guiboche 08-24-2003, 10:10 PM Well the definition of a "Classic" trailer is a trailer that is no longer available online, or that has never been online. "Classic" does not pertain to whether or not the movie was a classic, since we all know Mortal Kombat Annihilation wasn't.
Since the trailer for Mortal Kombat Annihilation is scarce to find (or only available in crappy old CinePak 2 encoding) it falls under the catagory of "Classic."
Now, what are "Forum Exclusives"? Maybe they need to be redefined.
Based on my knowledge, this is my definition: Forum Exclusives are trailers widely available on the internet for download (either on Apple or their official site), but what we provide here is higher quality versions (usually fullscreen or 640x720 copies) for all those hardcore die-hard trailer fans.
I'm I wrong about all this, or do the "Classics" and "Forum Exclusives" need to be re-defined. Since if we post what ever we want in this forum, there eventual will be a conflict (such as the already prepared for "Classics" Mortal Kombat Annihilation trailer) and about 50 million different copies of the same trailers posted ;)
Mark Strube 08-24-2003, 10:21 PM When I presented the idea to JP to start forum exclusives, they were 1999 or newer trailers, that may or may not be available on the net. I didn't think it would be a big problem if I bent the rules once and posted one from 1997. That's all.
Guiboche 08-24-2003, 10:25 PM Well it became a problem didn't it ;)
Mark Strube 08-24-2003, 10:45 PM Dude what do you want me to do abou it? SORRY! Yeeesh!!
Jean-Pierre Bazinet 08-24-2003, 11:06 PM Trailer is posted.
Everyone can enjoy.
Classic - not available, or crappy version. pre-1998
Exclusive - post-1998. high quality version.
