Insiders blamed for most online movie piracy - Most pirate copies of popular movies circulated online are the result of leaks by industry insiders rather than home or cinema copying, according to US research. A team from AT&T Laboratories and the University of Pennsylvania created software to track movies in the US box office top 50 uploaded to file-sharing networks between January 2002 and June 2003. Seventy-seven percent of films uploaded during this period were apparently created during production or distribution. Some simply appeared online before their cinema release - meaning they must have been leaked.

That's not the movie industry, that's people who work for the movie industry but don't think about their jobs.;)

just as a company is a company of Employees Yes but the industry is more than just 1 person. It's like saying Movielist is to blame for swapn2kiscool or Discostu. Not the forums fault that one or two people do the wrong thing, and while the forum is it's members those 2 members are not the forum. Same with the movie industry, it's made up of it's employee's but an individual employee doesn't represent the whole industry. So it's not the industrie's fault that a few dishonest workers hand out the movies.

So if u buy a bootleg movie is it simply the same thing as bootleg tape only copied onto a VCD or is it digital quality like DivX?

ahaha.. maybe they deliberatly release movies on file sharing networks to justify themselves increasing prices! :D

being able to download a movie and watch it before it comes out at the cinema.. still wont stop someone seeing it.. (unless the movie turns out to be crap.. and then its not really the pirates fault is it!)

the cinema still offers superior sound and video no matter what anyone says.. and that is why people go to the cinema.. if a movie is good.. and worth watching i would still see it at the cinema.

the only problem is ticket prices! i simply cant afford to see every movie i would like to see... so i have to make a few choices.. which will i watch from bootlegs (that i dont download, 56k i get mine from friends) or do i wait till they come out on dvd (which i get for free ;)) or do i see at the cinema.

its time for the cinemas and studio to realise that by jumping up ticket prices and slandering the bootleggers they are only doing themselves more harm, cause i know there are alot of people like me out there!

Well, all I know is this: The cost of making blockbusters is not going up as fast as the price of tickets. And if box office numbers aren't going down, then what's going on?
