View Full Version : What is the difference between TRAILER and TEASER? Haruehun 10-16-2003, 02:36 AM I am so confused. Is there anyone can explain? I'll appreciate it. Thank you! :D :freak: Matt 10-16-2003, 02:47 AM Why are you even here! Teaser is a really short taster, a Trailer is a fuller preview. Haruehun 10-16-2003, 02:54 AM Thank you! I am Thai, An Asian boy and My English is so poor. LOL editman 10-16-2003, 03:25 AM Originally posted by I Got Trailers Why are you even here! Be nice, kiddo. To be precise: Teaser are usually shorter, with less footage from the actual film and generally has very few information about the film itself, or footages shot specifically for the preview. Teaser are sometimes created before principal photography of a movie begins. Trailer, on the other hand, mostly features clips from the film, usually gives an outline of what the story is about. And are often created when an rough/fine edit/edits is completed. Anyone wanna jump on and add to it? BTW, welcome newbie. amr.ramadan 10-16-2003, 03:55 AM Check both Teasers and Trailers for The Time Machine and Terminator-3, as an example. Someone could correct me in this, but aren't the teasers limited to big-budget pop-corn movies? I don't remember seeing any for something else. ZUBi 10-16-2003, 07:31 AM & usually there is no speach from actors in the teasers. & I LOVE TEASERS VERY MUCH MORE THAN TRAILERS! so says ZUBi. radstar 10-16-2003, 11:39 AM yah teasers are much more exciting than trailers!!! not enough info and not too much info! and teasers pop up before trailers when you least expect it and that's very exciting! before i joined here, i never knew what movies would be coming. then i see teasers... i'm like OMG!!!!!!!!!! ahhhh i gotta see this! but SOMETIMES.. when i see the trailer- i'm like ehhhh. but some other times i can be WOA!!! that's my definition :D and welcome to the forum! :) corfy 10-16-2003, 12:39 PM There have been a lot of teasers that have little to no information about the movie (other the fact that the movie is coming up) but are very good. Some of my favorite teasers are the first teaser for Spider-Man (featuring the World Trade Center), Scooby-Doo (Who me? Ruh-Ruh!), Monsters Inc. (He must have read the schedule wrong with his ONE EYE), Toy Story 2 (What would a Toy Story movie be without Buzz Lightyear? A good movie), Finding Nemo (Nuttin' in my noggin), and Men in Black 2 (There's only one government agency you can turn to... the US Postal Service). Matt 10-16-2003, 12:45 PM The Matrix Reloaded US and international teasers were both well cut trailers. Personally, I like the international one better. BTW, this should be part of Movie-List FAQ. radstar 10-16-2003, 07:11 PM don't forget about alien and Star Wars Ep. II (the heavy breathing of darth vader) RoboDan 10-17-2003, 01:46 AM Well, the technical term for both teaser trailers and trailers are really the timeframe between release. I bevieve that Teasers are released 4-12 months prior to the film's release. I think the average is 6-8 months on the usual case. Trailers always come around at the 2 month mark, and less. (Yes, there are exceptions to the rule now, but that's really in recent years). Plus, as stated above, a teaser only offers a slight glimpse (if any) to the movie being advertised. A trailer will generally be longer (No more then 2 minutes and 30 seconds, or otherwise there can be no more trailers for that particular film for over a year). Also, it's been becoming somewhat standard now that Big Hollywood action movies have been getting the 1-2-3 treatment. One teaser 6 months in advance, a quick trailer showcasing the last period of production, and a final trailer to wrap up post-production. And yes, there have been Teasers for lesser known films (Independent, etc). It all depends on the studio in question, the filmmakers, and the budget. --Dan :) Rufus 10-17-2003, 04:05 AM I think that what editman and RoboDan are saying can be illustrated by, IMO, a classic teaser and trailer set in the ones for Terminator 2:Judgement Day (appropriately, they're available as 'classics' encoded by Guiboche at the main site, Haruehun). Terminator 2:Judgement Day Teaser/Trailer ;) Jake 10-17-2003, 10:31 PM so what's a teaser again?:big grin: :P |
