View Full Version : Kill Bill series?
Kn'thrak 10-19-2003, 10:48 PM Reading in various forums a rumour that spread along a grape vine, Production I.G. (including its very own forum) is thinking about making a Kill Bill series. pIG did a fantastic job on the first half of the movie Kill Bill with beautiful drawn animation (sketch like). Currently doing other projects now (Ghost In The Shell 2), it would be possible and receive much attention for this Kill Bill series.
Your thoughts or ideas on a series. Of course it will be a prequel just like the movie covered. Personally, I enjoyed the first half of the movie a lot more than the second. Very detailed (convincing) backstory of each charactor.
streetpreacher 10-20-2003, 04:28 AM hm, somehow this reminds me of the matrix universe :)
first there was only one movie.
then they split one long movie in two.
then they consider an animated series.
and i also read the rumor about some sequels involving the children of the characters
this doesn't sound unrealistic to me, because of the dialogue between the bride and copperhead's daughter after the bride killed her mother and the hint given in the cliffhanger ending ;)
i'd like to see all those projects happen, they all sound interesting to me if they are done right
aS!Dz 10-22-2003, 09:40 AM yea i loved the animated stuff....im all up for it :D
impetigo 10-29-2003, 03:05 AM i thought the animation part was annoying, and the action was weak. it's so obvious watching uma hold a sword that she has no idea how to hold or wield a sword. they really needed to use stunt doubles and/or sfx to make it look believable (and cool!).

So how exactly do you look like you have an idea? Like MacLeod on Highlander?! I thought she looked just fine.
And i'm glad that they DIDN'T use sfx on the film, it gave it the look that QT wanted. I'm tired of directors always going for sfx to fix their problems. On set effects and wire removal are the best.
aS!Dz 10-29-2003, 03:16 PM yea i agree wid workshed on this one....i didnt notice ne problems wid da way Uma was holdin the sword...it was "cool" she looked like a psycho mean killing machine wid that...and that was intended im sure....:)

Once we get all done with this, we're talking about the concept of doing a couple of prequels with maybe Production IG just doing full-on animation

Why can't Hollywood leave anything alone. As said before, this strikes me as a bit like The Matrix.
Kn'thrak 10-31-2003, 11:58 AM Production I.G. (http://www.productionig.com/) is not funded by Americans nor Hollywood. It's a Japanese Animation company. If QT wishs to enhance his work by the use of animation then its his movie, his choice. This will only extend his profits and image accross the public. The Animatrix did the same with The Matrix trilogy boosting popularity across the globe. Without Animatrix, the name (The Matrix) would just fade away into the history books and be forgotten in a few years.

They have created some of the best anime to date.

So without an anime behind it, there is no such thing as a good film? Movies can't stand on their own merit?
Lord of the Rings doens't have an anime, yet is doing very well. Of course you could say that is because it is based on a very popular trilogy of books.
Then, what about Star Wars? It was huge before books were written about it. They're just starting to get anything animated.
I think that The Animatrix works because The Matrix was rooted in anime, but that is the only reason. Kill Bill would also work because of the anime sequence in the film. However, just because there is an animated tie-in, doesn't mean that it somehow 'saves' the film from going into obscurity.
I'm pretty sure that The Matrix was doing pretty damn well without The Animatrix. Most people that have seen the films, and will see Revolutions, have not seen The Animatrix or even heard about it.
The Animatrix didn't save The Matrix. It wasn't some dying little film that didn't do well in the box office. It was a huge success and created numerous knock-offs in story and effects (even T3 adopted the future war look of The Matrix, of course you could say that The Matrix stole the Desert of the Real from T2).

Eh? Then wouldn't T3's Future War be that of T2 and The Matrix series simply ripped it off? :freak:

The future war in T3 looked different from that of T2 and T1. It was closer in look with that of The Matrix. It had more blue overtones and crazy in the number of machines. The humans also had more technology than in the first two Terminator films. This is closer in tone to The Matrix than it is with Terminator.
The humans in The Terminator barely lived in livable conditions, scarcely surviving off of rats and barely keeping warm next to a fire set inside of a TV. T3 had John Connor in military uniform!
This is so much closer to The Matrix than Terminator. I hate to sound like I'm being extremely repetitive, but I want to make this point clear.
EDIT: It's also surprising that an American flag would be able to survive the future war of the machines. You would have thought that they would have destroyed any form of human civilization.
Also, I guess there were military uniforms in the first two terminator films, but this one looked almost pressed.
I'm just saying that it wasn't the same, it looked too clean. It didn't fit into the other films. But anyways, this is getting way off topic...
