trailergod 07-05-2002, 02:01 PM thanks for this one,
whats the schedule of classic trailers, once a week?
anyway, it would be nice to make it more often coz i know there are lots of them =):D
Equinox 07-06-2002, 12:52 PM I (and many others) have this trailer on DVD. And I can't call this movie "classic". Can you please post not so popular trailers?

Me too.
Mark Strube 07-07-2002, 09:14 PM I do believe it is up to Jean what he wants to consider classics, considering it's his site and his trailer classics section! Enough complaints! Please just be happy he's doing this in the first place!

Looks like you don't understand me. Of course we are happy with your hi-quality trailers, and your work is greatly appreciated, and thanks to JP for free hosting of trailers. But you are encoding trailers not only for JP, movie-list is not personal home page, it's public site. And wide public, who visits movie-list, just already HAVE these popular blockbuster trailers on DVDs. It doesn't have any sense in downloading trailer for Men in Black, for example. How about really classic, rare trailers?
Jean-Pierre Bazinet 07-09-2002, 02:51 PM Well, one reason is, where to find them...
Most of the Classics do come from DVD's.
I'm going to try to get harder to find ones, but they won't be that rare.

For me main source of vob trailers is DVDs renting. Every decent DVD have some trailers in.

I agree, to a certain degree.
I understand that most classic trailers come from DVDs these days. But it seems lately the Movie-List Classics are those which are used to be available online before.
There are plenty of trailers of movies made and released before 1995 which are not yet available online. Though they can be found on DVDs, it's not likely for anyone to spend $20-40 just to get the trailers.
How about some classics that were not really available online before? Like "The Silence of the Lambs", or "Forrest Gump"?

It's not necessary to buy DVD. Do you know what the renting is? It costs less then $1 to rent DVD on my location.

I have 35 MB DivX trailer of "Forrest Gump" and bad quality trailer of "The Silence of the Lambs". Use Google for trailers search and you'll find them online.
Mark Strube 07-10-2002, 01:19 PM Lots of the trailers we are doing were only previously or currently available at postage stamp sizes with very crummy picture quality, frame rate, and audio quality.

Still, would you rent a DVD just to watch the trailer? What would you do with it, dup it onto tape? I wouldn't even if it costs less than 1c.
Wouldn't it be better if someone convert the trailers into Quicktime, so that you can download it and watch it anytime you like, 24-7, on your desktop? I don't think your local video rental shop would be closer than your PC/Mac.

I do not want DiVX. Gimme Quicktime...
Besides, I'm just making an example here. I know those trailers are on DVDs because I got them on DVDs. My point is that there should be more never-before-available Movie-List Classics than used-to-be-available ones.

No, I'm renting DVDs to watch movies and documentaries. Trailer is just one of bonuses.

Why to tape? I'm ripping DVD and copying VOB trailer to hard drive.

VOB trailers are better than Quicktime, why to convert them? They are big, but I have enough free space on HD.

Yes, but I can watch VOB trailers on my desktop 24-7 too...
