Firefly TV Series

Been getting into this show. Very, very good. Was wondering that although it was only a few eps, will it ever officially come out on DVD?

Kn'thrak 02-28-2003 05:24 PM

Okay, I just got off the phone with someone at Fox that said a "Firefly" DVD was talked about in a meeting they had today. There is no other information regarding this title available, but it IS coming. We'll keep you informed when we receive more information, but nothing more is expected for some time.

Firefly DVD news

From Ain't It Cool News:

“Firefly,” Joss Whedon’s widely adored but very cancelled Foxnet space Western, is coming to a DVD player near you -- and it’s coming in fabulous widescreen!
According to a never-steered-Herc-wrong-yet source close to the project:
No release date yet, but Fox Home Entertainment will be releasing. It sports the entire season, including the unaired eps, in 16:9 glory and, most likely, in the "correct" order. With lots of goodies.

-------------------------------------------
Poking around on the Official Firefly Website forums, suggests a release date in 8 months.

Even more news:

From USA Today:

Whedon also may have found a home for Firefly on DVD. Fox is planning to release the show on disc in widescreen format, probably in December. Whedon is expected to provide commentary, as he did for Buffy and Angel.

I liked this show a lot too, before it was canceled. Unfortunately, I missed the 2-hour pilot episode that was the last episode that aired. Crap

I hope they do find another home. Sci fi channel or some such should be interested.

Release date: December 9, 2003

IceGambit 07-25-2003 02:12 PM

Another great series by Joss Whedon that the network ruined.

I personally can't wait. December 9 is also the date for Buffy Season 5 in R1, so my pockets will be empty that day!

IGN interviewed Whedon a few weeks ago, and he said that this set will be getting the full treatment, with several commentaries and documentaries. Sorry, I can't find the link.

Joss Whedon praises the DVD release of "Firefly"

(From Scifiwire)

Joss Whedon, who created the short-lived television series Firefly, told Cinescape magazine that he's thrilled with the quality of the upcoming DVD box set. "They really went to town on the DVD," Whedon told the magazine. "There are interviews, extras, a gag reel and commentary on more than half the episodes. I was really impressed. When they said they wanted to do it, I was surprised. Then they just did it proper. It's a really nice package."
