    Willy Wonka Poster

Here's the poster for Tim Burton's remake. it's okay, will probably have to wait and see a trailer before i can make a judgement.

i know there has been mention of Burton making a remake of this movie...

but why is it called "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"...?? shouldn't it be Willy Wonka....?? unless this is maybe the continuation of the first movie with Gene Wilder?

i might be more accepting of this is that is the case. i really like Burton's original movies, but not his remakes (ie Planet of the Apes)...

i like Johnny Depp. he is a talented actor who has the ability to pull roles out of his butt and make them his own. but no one can compare to gene wilder.

it's called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory because that's the name of the book. it's supposed to be more "faithful" to the original story of the book.

oh...ok. sounds dumb but i didn't know that the name of the book was "charlie"...

so i guess burton is going to the same formula that he used with planet of the apes ?? well...at least he doesn't have marky mark and the monkey bunch with him this time. maybe it might be better....

but still...no gene wilder ??? sucks....

Has anyone read the book? I heard at one time that it is very grim ... that the children are actually killed. Are they going to follow that story line?

And I'm with Red Bear. I can't imagine anyone but Gene Wilder as Willie Wonka.

Yea the book is actually a bit disturbing. I'm also wondering if they're going to take the kids movie route or the more adult route.

hehe... this is just me...but if my son ever won a contest and THAT man was the one giving out prizes.....my son would go away prizeless.

he looks just a little too scary for my tastes. borderline pedophile.
i'm sure he come across as that in the movie...

Not too sure about the new look for Depp, although just looking at him will provide some laughs in the film.

From the clips and trailers I have seen I think I will be disappointed with this remake. I just found the dialog not funny when it should be, etc. I hope I am wrong.

Also I do think the director or people in the movie (forget who) said this movie is going to be more dark then the original was...
