    Producer Walter F. Parkes was here in NYC doing his rounds for the press junket for the upcoming Steven Spielberg film CATCH ME IF YOU CAN. He spoke a little about what to expect for the sequel to Gladiator. Its a sequel not a prequel.

    Question: Are you producing Gladiator 2?

    WFP: We're developing GLADIATOR 2, yes and John Logan is writing and am producing it.

    Question: Is it a sequel, prequel?

    WFP: 7 years later in Rome! [Laughs]. Well remember the character "Lucius"? He is the last heir to Marcus Aurelius, so it's a prince reigning to happen and guess who he finds out who his real father was.

    I'm out. Dry. Can't think of a funny title.

    But yeah no number. If you must, "Gladiator II" instead of "Gladiator 2". But no number at all is even better.

    Gladiator 2: GLARE magazine had some questions to ask of producer Walter Parkes about the sequel to 2000's Gladiator, in which Russell Crowe might be reprising his role as 'Maximus'.
    Maximus did die in the first 'Gladiator,' but the Romans had a great belief in the afterlife. Russell is exploring some ideas on how to come back. And this isn't as strange as it sounds because Gladiator 2 isn't exactly a sequel or a prequel, according to the filmmaker. "We can go backwards in time and forward," says Parkes. As for plot secrets, he divulges, "The piece revolves around Connie Nielsen's son, who is the last heir of Marcus Aurelius. Rome has become a fascist state and we have a prince who needs to find out who was his father.

    This is all an interesting take on the direction the film could be heading in. When Parkes was asked if director Ridley Scott would return to direct the sequel he stated he did not know, but hoped that he would.

    I don't think this film is going to work, the original was a amazing and I loved it a lot, it happens to be my all time fav movie. So I don't think I will go to see this one but I will just wait and see what else comes out about it.
