    Bad News For File Sharing

Today, the U.S. Supreme court rules that file sharing companies CAN be sued for copyright infringement. This ruling overturned lower court rulings from the past.

This won't directly affect non-U.S. companies for now, but it is definitly not good for the future of file sharing.

As long as this doesn't cut into my unlicensed anime shows, I can live with it. It's been an awfully long time since I've downloaded any music.
If you can stay calm, while all around you is chaos...then you probably haven't completely understood the seriousness of the situation.

this is not a problem. peer-to-peer is still alive and will be, in one form or another. this case just stated that Grokster can be sued becuase they advertised getting free music and software. that was their downfall. this didn't state that the technology was bad, which is a good thing.

besides, it is only a matter of time before something else comes out anyway...if it isn't already.

Can someone explain to me what is this concept of "buying" music? I thought that mp3s on Kazaa were umm, for promotional purposes like radio. I heard that people can even purchase these special promos on special discs, called compact discs
