Angry This is one time when I say "W.T.F."?!?

VERMILION, Ohio May 9, 2006 (AP)— Police have arrested a man accused of operating lawnmower while drunk. Dondi Bowles, 50, was arrested about 9:45 p.m. Friday as he drove the mower on a sidewalk.

Police said he had used the mower to drive to a store about a mile from his home and was arrested on his way back.

Police had the lawn mower towed.

Police said a breath test showed that Bowles' blood alcohol level was 0.144 percent, above Ohio's limit of 0.08 percent.

Police said it was Bowels' third drunken driving related arrest in six months.

Vermilion is a Lake Erie town about 40 miles west of Cleveland.

I was a police officer back in the 80s and here in the state of Texas, the penal code defines drunk driving as anytime a person operates a motor vehicle in a PUBLIC place under the influence of alcohol.

A motor vehicle is defined as an automobile, automobile truck, automobile wagon, motorcycle, or any other self-propelled vehicle designed for running on land but not on rails BUT a lawn mower is not classified as a motor vehicle in the Texas Penal code.

Either they have different and absurd laws in Ohio or those cops just didn't have anything else better to do!!

    What's the matter Officers?

Donut Shop not open at night?!?

    I don't care what it's defined as.
The guy is driving a lawnmower on the sidewalk!... DRUNK.

It's just as bad, if not worse, than driving a car drunk.

Exactly. The dude got what he deserved; I don't care what "automobile" is defined as, he could've hurt someone.

    9:45 PM isn't that late.

It makes no difference what you drive, it is still drunk driving, here in belgium you get arrested when you ride drunk on a bicycle.
Btw j7, I don't think that's zero tollerence. Zero tollerence is like getting a fine for speeding 1 mph too fast.

Actually... the being drunk part is the least of my worries.
If I find a completely sober guy driving a lawnmower down the sidewalk, he's going to jail!

Haven't you ever seen Dead Alive?

    Lawnmowers are dangerous.
If you can stay calm, while all around you is chaos...then you probably haven't completely understood the seriousness of the situation.

I love polish law. If you drank and you lead bicycle siodewalk, you're guilty just the same, as if you ride drunk car.
