Butterflies are pretty harmless. There may be a few poisonous varieties, but they're rare enough or not venomous enough to cause any concern. For example, the monarch butterfly (one of the most easily recognizable butterflies) is only poisonous to animals the size of birds.

Moths, on the other hand are a real pain.


If you want to be scared of bugs, go with arachnids. Scorpions, spiders, and centipedes worry me. Spiders are common enough that they don't bother me that much, but centipedes make me want to run for the hills.
