Supermodel Week: Christie Brinkley !!

Christie Brinkley is the World's First Supermodel.

She held the title of 'Supermodel' before the word 'Supermodel' was even a household name.

Before there were Supermodels Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Elle McPherson, Tyra Banks, Linda Evangelista, Alessandra Ambrosio, Tyra Banks, Ana Beatriz Barros, Gisele Bündchen, Naomi Campbell, Laetitia Casta, Eva Herzigova, Karolína Kurková, Petra Nemcova, Frederique van der Wal, Heidi Klum and Adriana Lima...

there was only one:

Christie Brinkley.

In 1979, Christie was already a successful in-demand fashion model when she appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue which put her career on a faster track:



She made the cover again the following year and the year after that making her the first woman ever to make the cover of SI Swimsuit Issue 3 years in a row (Elle McPherson being the second in 1986, 1987, 1988).

By 1983, Christie was earning an unheard of $6 million dollars per year and that same year, 3 events took her career to the top!!

1. Christie appeared as the Hot Girl in the Red Ferrari in National Lampoon's Vacation and her now World's famous movie poster sold millions of copies worldwide (first picture below):



2. Christie became the Official Worldwide TV Commercial Spokesmodel for Master Charge Credit Cards.

How can we forget Christie wearing a shimmering blue evening gown and seductively purring the slogan:

"Master Charge You Are Soooo Chic"

3. Christie appeared as the Wealthy Socialite in Billy Joel's music video "Uptown Girl" and she and the Singer became an item later the following year.

So here's to you Christie for setting the bar high for all the Supermodels who came after you!!
