    Quantum of Solace Title Explained

The upcoming James Bond prequel sequel title was released and the title still has people wondering what it means. Quantum of Solace?? What is that? I have an idea, lets see what the writer of the screenplay has to say.

    MTVMovies quotes:

You’re probably still wondering what the title of the next James Bond movie, “Quantum of Solace,” actually means. Star Daniel Craig insisted that the oddly-phrased moniker “ties into the plot,” but don’t tell that to the Oscar-winning writer of the script…because he’s just as confused as the rest of us.

“I have no idea,” Paul Haggis admitted when I asked him for the meaning on the Oscar red carpet Sunday. “It’s not my title.”

So Craig says it has something to do with the plot. A tie in. It will all make sense kinda like when we all couldnt figure out what “The Phantom Menace” meant and finally got it after the movie came out. Some titles just sound stupid but become part of the accepted genre after a while and you kinda forget how dumb it sounded.

According to Ask Yahoo the answer states: “Quantum of Solace” is a small degree of comfort that can exist between two people emotionally in a relationship. The Governor character in the Ian Fleming short story of the same name defines it as “… a precise figure defining the comfort, humanity and fellow feeling required between two people for love to survive. If the quantum of solace is nil, then love is dead.”

I am still at a loss as to what this will mean. Bond is dealing with his feelings over Vesper Lynd’s death in the previous film and perhaps this alludes to the shaping of the cold womanizer that Bond becomes later in his career. Keeping that “quantum” at nil, he can avoid falling in love.

Or maybe I am just grasping.

    What do you think?

    Connery eyes 007 villain role

LONDON, March 28 (UPI) -- Scottish actor Sean Connery told a British newspaper he would like to play a villain in an upcoming James Bond picture.

Connery, 77, played the iconic superagent in the movies "Dr. No," "From Russia With Love," "Goldfinger," "Thunderball," "You Only Live Twice," "Diamonds Are Forever" and "Never Say Never Again," but retired from film acting in 2006.

"I wouldn't mind coming back as a Bond villain," he told The Daily Telegraph. "But I don't think they would pay me enough money."

Connery said he thought Daniel Craig, the "Casino Royale" star who will play Bond in the next several 007 films, "is a terrific choice."

"I think they're going back to a more realistic type of Bond movie as I don't think they could have gone much further with the special effects," Connery said. "They don't pay the money for the other parts, only for the Bond character, although that wasn't the case when I was doing it."

Sean Connery as Bond bad guy

How fricking sweet would it be to see Sean Connery back in a James Bond film as a villain??? I had ths same thoughts back when I suggested that Michael Keaton should come back to the Batman franchise as The Joker. Not only can the man seriously act… but the novelty of it would be totally priceless.

Well, there are reports right now that Sean Connery is indeed in talks to come on board Quantum of Solace (stupidest movie title ever) as the Bond villain opposite Daniel Craig. The folks at Cinematical give us this:

according to Ace Showbiz, a new press release says that the actor has considered returning to the franchise as the big baddie. Connery is quoted as saying: “I wouldn’t mind coming back as a Bond villain. But I don’t think they would pay me enough. They don’t pay the money for other parts, only for the Bond character, although that wasn’t the case when I was doing it.” Ouch! I would think they might want to add Connery in to at least save some face. Sure, things change, but what production wants to be considered penny pinchers that only care about Craig? Ace goes on to say: “Allegedly, the 77-year-old Academy Award-winning actor has been involved in negotiations to land a villain role with the film’s producers since Daniel Craig has been tapped to bring Ian Fleming’s agent back to the big screen with Casino Royale.”

Hot damn sign me up! Casino Royale was my favorite Bond flick to date and I love the direction the franchise seems to be heading. Daniel Craig is the best Bond ever (that’s saying something) and to have the immortal Sean Connery come back to the Bond fold as a villain would be a dream merger. I seriously hope this actually happens!

I remember there were similar rumors of Connery playing the villain floating around for "Goldeneye", although at the time, not only was Connery going to be the villain, but he would also be Bond's long-lost father. In the end, the villain was one of Bond's former "co-workers" instead of his family.

Hasnt he retired? He said he wont go back to film. Even rejected coming back to Indiana Jones.

At most, only a few minutes or seconds cameo. Still... would love to see him back on the screen

Maybe it’s Murphy’s law, maybe it’s the road around Lake Garda, but just days after a stunt man and his DBS ended up in the aforementioned lake (see our article), two of his colleagues crashed an Alfa Romeo 159 into a production truck. The passenger made it fine, but the driver is said to be in critical condition. Let’s hope for the best for him. A human life is worth more than a car, whatever the make is (that’s our reaction to some inconsiderate reactions we saw on some websites).

“the accident happened when the car used by two stuntmen rammed into a filming lorry and then into a wall on set near the picturesque Lake Garda in northern Italy…”

“…one of the two men, a Greek national, ended up in intensive care in a hospital in the nearby town of Verona.”

The filming as been stopped while the scene is under investigation. The driver was experienced, but the road is windy and dangerous for this kind of high speed scenes: “They chose this road because it is full of curves and tunnels. It will give the film a lot of impact,” said Marco Girardi, spokeman for the town of Limone sul Garda.

“Filming with the second unit on ‘Quantum of Solace’ will be suspended while the accident is investigated,” the statement said. It noted that neither director Marc Forster, Daniel Craig nor any other cast members were at the location when the accident occurred.

Here is from the first crash...http://carsplusmovies.com/2008/04/23...in-lake-garda/

While shooting a stunt for Quantum of Solace, the next Bond, the stuntman lost control of the Aston Martin DBS and ended up in the lake beyond. Thanksfully, the driver suffers only minor injuries, which is crazy considering how badly damaged the car is.
It’s painful to see such a beautiful car get smashed, but when you see what these guys do with them when filming, it’s amazing it doesn’t happen more often!

007 DUET: Alicia Keys & Jack White (Of The White Stripes) Record Theme Song

Their first choice was Amy Winehouse. But she was too busy doing drugs. Instead, the theme song for the latest James Bond movie Quantum Of Solace will be the first duet in 007 history of 22 films. Sony/MGM announced today that artists Jack White of the rock band The White Stripes, and Alicia Keys, have recorded "Another Way To Die", the movie's theme song which was written and produced by White (who is also featured as the drummer on this track). The soundtrack to Quantum of Solace will be released by J Records on October 28th.

I don't have a problem with their choice - still better than Amy Wino!!

    BUT

Another Way To Die sounds like Die Another Day!!

They couldn't come up with a better title than that and one that's more synonymous with the title of the film Quantum of Solace?

This isn't the first Bond film where the song wasn't directly related to the title.

The Spy Who Loved Me had "Nobody Does It Better" (although the words were in the song).

    Octopussy had "All Time High".

Casino Royale had "You Know My Name".

I kind of wish it was only Jack White doing it. I'm a big White Stripes fan. Find it strange that he's playing drums on the track as he's one of the best guitarists around. Hope it's not a slow and sappy song. You Know My Name was great and easily top 3 of all the Bond themes.
You're waiting for a train, a train that will take you far away. You know where you hope this train will take you, but you can't be sure. But it doesn't matter - because we'll be together.

US release date pushed back to November 14th!!

    http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b253...eek_later.html

so the rest of the world will get it first and we will be one week behind in the USA? by the time it opens in the USA, it will have hit the internet on the torrent sites already - wouldn't that hurt opening box office numbers?

This excuse by Sony about the Thanksgiving is BS because Thanksgiving is not until Thursday November 27th, that's 2 weeks away!!

Maybe if they pushed it back to Friday, November 21st, I am more liable to believe their logic and reasoning!!
