The 2 new Bond Girls Gemma Arterton (red hair) and Olga Kurylenko (short black hair - she was seen recently in "Hitman") with Daniel Craig at the official announcement of the Bond 22 Film Title on January 22nd, 2008:

Plot Details and explanation of the Title:

It centres around a dinner party conversation in the Bahamas between Bond and the Colonial Governor.

Bond is told of a young Diplomatic Service man who marries a flight attendant. When she becomes disillusioned with her life she begins a blatant affair which ruins her husband.

He retaliates by ruthlessly crushing her spirit over the course of a year, leaving her financially and emotionally ruined.

The crux is the emotional phenomenon the Governor calls the Quantum of Solace, the smallest unit of human compassion that two people can have. As long as that compassion exists, people can survive, but when it is gone, when your partner no longer cares about your essential humanity, the relationship is over.

Bond becomes depressed by the story as he realises he is alone, and that no one in the world has a "Quantum of Solace" for him.

So, looks like EON has decided to use up all the official titles from now on,

which probably means we'll be expecting (at least the next 3) films to be called "Risico" (even though they used it as working title for this one, according to IMDB), "The Hildebrand Rarity" and "The Property of a Lady"?

(Not a bad idea, IMO, mind you.)

I doubt "007 in New York" has the oomph for a big-budget blockbuster Bond movie title - low-brow average joes/fanboys would no doubt framegrill it for sounding 'dumb'.

    Quantum of Solace

    Release Date: November 7, 2008
    Studio: Columbia Pictures (Sony), MGM
    Director: Marc Forster
Screenwriter: Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, Paul Haggis
Starring: Daniel Craig, Olga Kurylenko, Mathieu Amalric, Judi Dench, Gemma Arterton, Jeffrey Wright, Jesper Christensen, Joaquin Cosio

Plot Summary: "Quantum of Solace" continues the high octane adventures of James Bond (Daniel Craig) in "Casino Royale."

Betrayed by Vesper, the woman he loved, 007 fights the urge to make his latest mission personal. Pursuing his determination to uncover the truth, Bond and M (Judi Dench) interrogate Mr White (Jesper Christensen) who reveals the organisation which blackmailed Vesper is far more complex and dangerous than anyone had imagined.

Forensic intelligence links an Mi6 traitor to a bank account in Haiti where a case of mistaken identity introduces Bond to the beautiful but feisty Camille (Olga Kurylenko), a woman who has her own vendetta. Camille leads Bond straight to Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a ruthless business man and major force within the mysterious organisation.

On a mission that leads him to Austria, Italy and South America, Bond discovers that Greene, conspiring to take total control of one of the world's most important natural resources, is forging a deal with the exiled General Medrano (Joaquin Cosio). Using his associates in the organisation, and manipulating his powerful contacts within the CIA and the British government, Greene promises to overthrow the existing regime in a Latin American country, giving the General control of the country in exchange for a seemingly barren piece of land.

In a minefield of treachery, murder and deceit, Bond allies with old friends in a battle to uncover the truth. As he gets closer to finding the man responsible for the betrayal of Vesper, 007 must keep one step ahead of the CIA, the terrorists and even M, to unravel Greene's sinister plan and stop his organisation.

    Angry

This title is getting poor reaction from the public (who never read an Ian Fleming's novel and/or are not die hard Bond fans).

the comments ranges from what kind of S***** title is that? to that title is not going to sell tickets! to is this a science fiction movie? (because when they hear the word 'Quantum', they associate it with science fiction like the tv show 'quantum leap') to that doesn't sound like the title of a Bond film!!

    Morons!!

Here is a trivia about Ian Fleming that I did not know about. Did you know Sir Ian Fleming wrote the childrens book that became the movie by the same name called Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?

seriously, do you really expect people to read books these days ?? i think you are expecting too much.....

personally, i could care less about the title. the movie sounds interesting, but damm... what the hell ever happened to having beautiful Bond girls ?? both of these women are mediocre at best.... damm.
