Why some of these movies don't make it to theaters?

I cannot find a U.S. release date for "Adrift".

Then there are movies that according to IMDB that should be released this month (August to early September) or have already been released to the theater:

The Quiet
Mini's First Time

but they never made it to my city and we have 3 dozen multi-screen theaters here.

But there is no DVD date on them either.

Will we ever see these movies?

Sometimes the release date gets later, sometimes producers decides pfor a last time to switch to DVD without thatrical release, sometimes they release it in some area, but its not succesful here so they just throw it away, coz distribution would be senseles, sometimes title goes stright to DVD but later then the release date coz of some production problems, sometimes movie gets its theatrical and even DVD release but never is finished, sometimes it ends in archive.
There are tons of happenings that can happen to film

Some movies just have such a tiny release that they never make it to some cities.

I do look forward to the Dvd (uncut?) version of The Quiet.

Not sure which movie Mini's First Time is though. Sounds familiar.
