why does she need to go to an ATM Machine?

I have a debit card with the Visa logo on it and it's drawn from my Checking Account; it works just like a Credit Card everywhere Visa is accepted.

I can use it at a store, restaurant, gas station and even online.

I hardly ever carry cash anymore and if I do, it's not anything more than $20 (the minimum and smallest amount you can withdraw from any ATM).

I have Credit Cards too but I hardly ever use them; I rather use my checking account Debit Card.

if I don't have any money in the account, I don't spend.

Now the wife and Credit Cards.... that's a different story.

Ah, you hit on one point right there... Visa isn't accepted everywhere (and by "Visa", I am also including MasterCard, American Express, and Discover).

Where I live, there are several restaurants (mostly smaller "mom and pop" places) and a handful of stores (again, mostly smaller places) that don't take "plastic". So I could either boycott them or use cash.

But yes, I prefer to use the debit card as well, but unfortunately, the debit card isn't as universal as actual cash.

well you do have a point, Corfy;

there are several VERY Good Chinese Restaurants here in Houston's Chinatown that accept only Cash and I can't stay away from them.

Of course, the few times I went to the Grocery store and had cash and I purchased a week's worth of grocery, the cashier look at me funny when they see all that cash!!

I generally carry around $30 cash in my wallet, and prefer to use credit cards over cash or debit. But when you're getting little stuff (like lunch), cash is just easier.
