Why does the staff sargent shoot Sullivan at the end of the movie? Is there any clues, or is it intentionally left for speculation?

he was one of the bad guyz, wasnt he? I dont really remember it, but I think it was sort of combination of Infernal Affairs I and II (which was awful - the second one)

You mean Det. SSgt. Dignam (Mark Wahlberg) shoot Sullivan (Damn I can't remember details).

I like to think about it as a revenge for the death of Queenan (Martin Sheen). Revenge and certainty, that the court will not release him.
