    Why "Two Towers", without "The"?

mmmm FYI ... these movies are based on 3 books written by Author J.R.R. Tolkien, he made a several more books about the middle earth.

The movie titles simply follow the titles of the books....
most of the books were done during the 1950s i think...

No, the book was also titled "The Two Towers". People have been frustrated because they didn't understand anything about the books, but heard that the movie was coming out so close after what happened on 9/11.

Censors and complaining parents were outraged...because they thought the title sounded too much like the "Twin Towers", and they lobbied to get New Line to change the title. Thankfully, they didn't, but at least people understood their mistake.
