Sorry if this was answered already, but how is the closest determined? Is is closest without going over or is it closest overall (regardless of if you go over. ie if it makes 169 mil and no one gueses the 165 to 170 interval does the 170+ group get it?

In response to the answer to my previous question the rules say

So even if no one predicted the interval it ended up making someone would be closest, I just am not sure if we are defining closest as "closest without going over" as I know it is a popular way to predict grosses and such at some places.

closest without going over using the list of choices and the final box office result should be in your choice so if you picked 160.1 - 165 Million and the final box office numbers is 169 million, you still don't win because you didn't pick the next choice 165.1 - 170 Million ....

I am extending the deadline to place (or change) your predictions by 8 hours to 6 pm tonight, that's 7 pm in Canada, midnight in the UK, 7 am on Wednesday in Australia, 1 am on Wednesday in Prague, CZ, etc

I am looking at the movie times for my area and just one of the many theaters here have 12 showings tonight starting at 1 minute after midnight with the last one at 5:45 am; then starting back up at 9 am.

The IMAX theater has shows at 1 minute after midnight and 3:45 am.

First signs...

Based on early sales data, BOXOFFICE.com is predicting that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen could end up with as much as $42 million domestically during its opening day. As always, that figure will be helped along considerably by midnight showings.

The record for the best Wednesday opening currently belongs to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which grabbed $44.2 million in July 2007. The original Transformers opened with $27.9 million on Tuesday, July 3, 2007.

Critics in general are not being kind to Transformers 2, but that will hardly influence whether or not the sequel's target audience—young males—will see it or not. If audiences disagree with critics, then Transformers 2 could end up with as much as $165 million by the end of the weekend.
