    Question Best Films of 2000-2010?

    Hey all,

We're fasting approaching the end of the decade. What movies did you like from the years 2000-2010. What movies did you like that will become classics?

Don't just list - tell us all why!

P.S. -- Movie must have had an initial release date on or after Jan 1, 2000, and before Dec 31, 2010
Our greatest accomplishments cannot be behind us, because our destiny lies above us. - Matthew Mcconaughey - Interstellar

Last year was the end of the decade. 2000-2009 is 10 years, 2000-2010 is 11.

Technically the decade runs 2001-2010. There was never a year 0. That's what cracked my up about the year 2000 being called the Millennium when in fact it didn't start for another year.
You're waiting for a train, a train that will take you far away. You know where you hope this train will take you, but you can't be sure. But it doesn't matter - because we'll be together.

Yes, yes, yes! After 1 B.C. was 1, not 0. Mistakes about it pisses me off more than 10 years now.

By the way, the year 2000 have so much great films (Memento, Malèna, Dancer in the Dark, Gladiator, Requiem for a Dream...)

I don't know, this is very hard to say... Ok, my top 10:

The Lady and the Duke (Eric Rohmer, 2001): interesting style, it's like a painting, surprisingly suspenseful for an historic movie
Dogville (Lars von Trier, 2003): heartbreaking, frustrating, technically original
Memento (Christopher Nolan, 2000): mindscrew, original ideas
The Departed (Martin Scorsese, 2006): high quality thriller
Requiem for a Dream (Darren Aronofsky, 2000): dark, visually original
Amelie (Jean-Pierre Jeunet, 2001): the antichrist of Requiem for a Dream, optimist, relax, visually cool
Dancer in the Dark (Lars von Trier, 2000): realist style, Bjork performance is a 10/10
Polytechnique (Denis Villeneuve, 2009): one of the hardest movie I've seen from a long time
3:10 to Yuma (James Mangold, 2007): western movies are not dead!
Dracula: Pages from a Virgin's Diary (Guy Maddin, 2002): totally personnal choice, Maddin touch is special, Mahler music is genius in it

I have not seen great 2010 movies yet. I'm always late...

    The trailers...

(OMG, the kid from Percy Jackson is in this movie!! I never noticed that!)

I maybe think that loving Twilight is one thing and say it, a lack of self-esteem, but it all about taste and colours...

Children of Men (2006): One of the best of all time. The whole thing felt to 'real'.

Mr. Nobody (2009): Great movie, excellent use of parallel universes to tell the story of one man's life/lives.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001): Best of the trilogy, (serves as a placeholder for the entire trilogy)

Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003): Both films were a great (again serves as placeholder for both)

Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others) (2006): Yes it did deserve to beat Pan's Labyrinth at the Oscars. Great movie.

Memento (2000): I don't know what I can say about this movie other than that it is awesome

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006): great imagery, loved the film

Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain (Amélie) (2001): Heartwarming film with a wonderful soundtrack

    (500) Days of Summer (2009): Best movie of 2009.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005): Robert Downey at his best, quick and sharp

I don't feel I can add anything from 2010 yet as I need at least a year to see what I think of a film compared to great films from a few years ago. Although I would have to day that the front-runners from this year would be Inception, Shutter Island, The Social Network, and Scott Pilgrim (although I haven't seen 127 Hours, True Grit, or many other promising films that will be released later this year)
