Question Is this even legal? How they get away with it?

People take movies and edited them to the way they think the films should have been made then make them available for Download and in some cases, for purchase on DVD?

    Isn't this still considered pirating?

    fanedit.org/483/

Has anyone ever seen this website before?

The same way Napster got away with Music Sharing, of course it's not legal.
Nobody cracked down on them yet, that's all unless they found some obscure loophole, but I would seriously doubt it.

PS: Posting links to Illegal DL sites is also illegal in this forum.......

Fanedit.org doesn't house illegal content. Fanedit.info however does.

The fan edit scene to me is a grey area. Granted downloading a film in a near-original version just for a colour correction without owning the original can be wrong. But say you wanted a version of the original Star Wars film that honoured what the originals were about, you own the VHS, you own the DVD and probably will own when it comes out the Blu-Ray. Is there any harm in you getting a different cut of the film online? Heck most of the edits actually have in their description a request that you own the film on DVD.
