    hello.
    what's happening ?
No Tron for best score ?
No Tron for best sound mixing ? Visual effect ? I loved Alice in wonderland but they don't deserve nomination just because the played with our money for the crappy 3D.

once again they picked movies that didn't get any/much exposure here where I live and I live in the 4th largest Metropolitan city in the U.S.with a population of approximately 5.9 million!!

Movies like Winter's Bone, the Rabbit Hole, the Kids Are Alright, Biutiful, Blue Valentine, etc

and those documentaries and animated short and live action short:

where does one gets to see them at?

I never seen any of the documentaries and short they nominate years after years (or heard of them until they are nominated for an Oscar)!!

If "The Social Network" doesn't win Best Picture, Director, Screenplay, Editing and Music... I will never watch Oscars again...

I think editing, screenplay and director are deserved... not so much the music. While the music was good, it lacked depth. Though I'd rather see it win over A.R. Rahman after Slumdog's win... yuck...

why is INCEPTION not nominated for Best Director?

How is Hailee Steinfeld Best Supporting Actress? She was the only major female character in True Grit!

    She should be BEST ACTRESS!

I thought the Tron score would be a sure thing for an Oscar nomination. What the hell, Academy? What the hell?

Wow, wtf is up with some of these nominations? How the hell does Christopher Nolan not get nominated for Best Director? Where the hell are Tron's nominations for score and visual effects? What a complete and utter farce. Just once, I love to see the Academy get it right.
You're waiting for a train, a train that will take you far away. You know where you hope this train will take you, but you can't be sure. But it doesn't matter - because we'll be together.

    Unhappy

I am starting to get the feeling that winning an Oscar isn't an honour any more (or an award for true achievement in the movie industry for each previous year), and hasn't been for quite some time. Merely Hollywood congratulating itself.

Furthermore, most of the votes cast by the Academy Awards members are no longer based on achievement, but mostly based on their personal taste and the commercial popularity of the movie being voted on!

I think the Academy awards have long been a farce of sorts. People like Alfred Hitchcock have never won for their work (I'm not counting the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award). How could they not give Alfred Hitchcock a best director award? Mind-boggling.

I guess back then the Academy was prejudice against British movie-makers?

A film I feel was ignored (and released at the wrong time) is Shutter Island... That should be nominated for best director, best editing and at the very least best actor (Leo).

At least Burlesque is not nominees this time and no The Tourist either. Gosh! That were some of the most ridiculous nominations of GG history!

I didn't found Tron score that impressive, as the other nominees...
The past years suck in scores! Elfman, Zimmer and all the old gang deceived me in some points lastly.
