    Rofl. Good to know. Figured there's a level of ignorance considering he didn't know who directed this, which is totally fine, but then you can't bash someone who wasn't involved.

    Peace out.

    How original... NOT!!

    J.J. Abrams has no originality or a shred of an original idea.
    I've never specified what J.J. Abrams part was.

    He is the producer, one of them and most likely the one in charge, so even if he didn't write it or direct it, he approved everything associated with the script and the direction.

    So yes, he is still responsible for the script and this movie rehashing the same Destiny crap!

    Like at any corporation: the person in charge/manager/supervisor/president/vice president is always responsible for the screw up of anyone below them.

    Um Kathleen Kennedy is in charge of everything movie wise she has final say & again JJ is not on any Producer list for this movie wanna try again ? JJ had no involvement in this movie. Wanna try again ? At most JJ & this director made sure the story beats lined up with each other but JJ had no other involvement or say with this movie & he is not listed as producer anywhere. Cant you go talk about that Bumblebee Movie somewhere ? You are clearly not a fan & are spreading lies to suit your agenda

    @j7wild

    A producer is nothing more than a general movie term for "Businessman" with roles varying from simply finding a script, getting paid to have his name in the credits for promotional purposes, and/or simply bankrolling or finding investors.
    It doesn't mean squat in respect to creative content 99.9% of the times.

    Here in a nutshell:

    Producer The main person running the whole production (like a CEO)
    Executive Producer A powerful person, normally related to the financing and/or the studio behind the project.
    Co-producer Someone significantly involved in the making of the film (non-creatively). Also encompasses a local producer when a film is a co-production between multiple companies and/or countries.
    Line Producer The person planning the actual filming process.
    Associate Producer What you give your secretary instead of a raise.

    In short, producers are people who make the movie happen, but on the business side.

    We went trough this a year back or so with Michael Bay, please give it a rest.

    I can't see through walls, but I can kick your ass.

    JJ is not even listed as a producer for this

    @j7wild

    Your posts have been deleted because your idea of a discussion is insulting members and being seriously confrontational.
    There's a difference between constructive criticism and pissed off at the world because they don't see it your way!!
    Font #20 in Bold Red with harsh comments is not creative criticism.

    I already knew where this was heading, and had already warned everyone to ease up the tone.
    If taking sides is removing inflammatory comments because you are not civil enough to agree to disagree and leave it alone, then YES I am taking sides.

    @Caboose

    Actually he is according to IMDB:

    Produced by

    J.J. Abrams ... executive producer
    Ram Bergman ... producer
    Boris Dmitrovic ... line producer: croatia
    Finni Johannsson ... line producer: Iceland Unit
    Tom Karnowski ... executive producer
    Kathleen Kennedy ... producer
    Jason D. McGatlin ... executive producer

    But it doesn't mean anything on the creative aspect of the film. He can surely influence the outcome if he slashes the budget or is unable to get additional funding if it goes over.

    OK, as a closing comment on this ongoing dispute:

    Kennedy is the Producer - definition follows.

    A person responsible for the financial and managerial aspects of the making of a movie, broadcast, staging a play, opera, etc.

    This said, everyone can draw their own conclusions, so can we please move on?

    Ignore this movie

    Kathleen Kennedy is the head of Lucasfilm

    The Boss

    She decides on what gets made

    She has final say on everything

    Take away her being a producer on this

    She is still the main boss on everything LucasFilm

    George Lucas hand picked her after all
