I just read up on it. I never came accross it before because I can't afford digital TV. I'm getting a wide screen set next month though thanks to the wonders of credit, but High Definition Television is not something that I've ever heard mentioned before. I don't think they use it in Britain.

You can use anything in Britain with the magic of satellite.
I just recently saw About A Boy which is in London and in the movie Hugh Grant has a widescreen tv... dunno anything more about it lol.

Oh we have widescreen, but there have been no exclusive digital programs here that require a seperate encoder for the analogue TV. The stuff I read was all very technical but I did pick up on a point that the big companies wanted just that, and I assume big companies means American companies.

ok, to make it simple.. HDTV is HIGH DEFINITION TV.... it could be 720p 1024P or i .... meaning I for interlaced and P for progessive....

its a new TV standard that will eventually replace out current NTSC and PAL systems...

HDTV is actually higher quality than DVD.. :big grin:

I've read all that stuff thanks to the wonders of Google. It certainly sounds good but unless all of the movielist members want to buy me a gift I can't afford it.

Still A Sony widescreen TV is good enough for me. I love interest free.:big grin:
