    It is true that the French did build the Statue of Liberty.

    However, the French originally wanted to raise both of the lady's hands way up high, and have her hold a white flag instead of a torch.

    Eventually we came to a compromise, and they only left one of her hands raised up in the air.

    THANK GOD, us Americans gave the suggestion to have her hold a torch instead of a white flag. Did I say white flag? I meant FRENCH flag...oh wait a minute, aren't they one in the same? Or am I thinking of a Yellow flag. lol
