why and who the f*ck killed this movie.. ?!?!?!

    Equilibrium (2002)

i just watched this movie (thanks to ZUBi for the VHS rip)and I was amazed that it was actually good. Great acting, great FIGHT SCENES and a very interesting Theme. But who the **** killed this movie? and why?

I heard Dimension films only released this in 300 theatres for 3 weeks and hardly no marketing.... WTF ?!?!?!!? If crappy movies like SwimFan and Just Married get more screens than would be cult movies like Equilibrium ... then WTF... is wrong with Dimension or with these movie companies ?!?!?!?!
There is not even a release date for Germany or most countries....

This movie had a budget of $20M and if it had more money it could have looked even better, but even with its not so big budget it still looks good.

In 5 years I bet this movie will have Cult status.....

I have seen NOTHING for this movie here in Canada. Not for theater, not for video. nothing

And yet they won't SHUT UP about a whole slew of crappy films - including that discrace, swimfan. Who green lighted that film?! They need to be hit by a bus!

I amazes me how stupid hollywood can be sometimes. Giving good movies stright to video releases or no advertising and spending tons of money on shitty films.

If it wern't for the Internet I wouldn't have even known about this film - and that was because of a Direct Links thread.

    hollywood has lost it.

I saw equilibrium in canada on the big screen. There was 10 people in the theatre. I loved it. This movie reminds me of bondock saints. Great movie in which nobody will see, untill it hits the video stores. The same thing happened with Below. another dimension films release in which it had no name actors in it, but still had the punch. Yet, no theatrical release. More and more I see this happening, and there's nothing we can do about it. Because all the teenage popcorn movies like just married and swimfan are getting the kids money and that's all that matters to them. Something needs to be done to stop this.

What you mean noname actors? I know Christian Bale since Mio My Mio, when it was, 15 years ago? And of course every decent moviefan knows who Emily Watson is.

Well, here in the states it was all really bad timing. A bunch of other movies came out at the same time, and beat it. So sadly it died out.

Damn right the story wasn't original but that doesn't matter with Equilibrium because it doesn't attempt to be anything it's not. Like every popcorn movie it has a morality tale to tell without going into it on more than a surface level. Unlike films like Minority Reoprt and Matrix though it doesn't pretend to be a deep movie. Very strong performance by Bale aswell, with a cameo from Sean Beane.

BTW people should really see this on the big screen but can't because a film without Matrix's budget now get's ignored.
