Day of the Dead - 2 DVD set

May 22: Final specs for Anchor Bay's DAY OF THE DEAD 2-DVD set
Anchor Bay has informed Fango of the final specs on its amazing two-DVD release of DAY OF THE DEAD, coming August 19. This is the first Anchor Bay title to use the new DiviMax high-definition transfer process, and will present the film in 1.85:1, 16x9-enhanced widescreen. In addition to 6.1 DTS-ES and Dolby Digital Surround EX soundtracks, the movie will come with audio commentary by George A. Romero, Tom Savini, production designer Cletus Anderson and star Lori Cardille, and a second commentary track by filmmaker Roger (KILLING ZOE) Avary.
The second disc will be packed with a wide array of bonus materials, as follows:
• The Many Days of DAY OF THE DEAD—An all-new 39-minute documentary featuring interviews with Romero, producer David Ball, Savini and makeup FX artist Greg Nicotero, Anderson, assistant director Chris Romero and actors Cardille, Joseph Pilato and Howard Sherman
• DAY OF THE DEAD: Behind The Scenes—31 minutes of production footage from Savini
• An audio interview with late actor Richard (Dr. Logan) Liberty
• A promotional video for the Wampum Mine location
• Theatrical trailers and TV spots
• Production stills and behind-the-scenes photos
• Zombie makeup photo and continuity stills galleries
• Posters and ad art
• Memorabilia gallery
• DVD-ROM features: Romero’s original draft of the screenplay and production memos
The package also comes with a 16-page booklet designed to look like Dr. Logan’s notebook, containing liner notes and original production sketches from the film. And it’s all for just $29.98! Romero fans, start salivating now…

i still have the old release. got it in a horror package in 1998. it contained psycho, day of the dead, amityville 3d and american werewolf in london. back then i only knew psycho, and i just bought it, because i wanted dvd's and it was only about 60$
pretty cheap back then.
the dvd contains a very cheesy teaser for the movie, with hands coming through a wall and the actress is reacting before the hands can be seen
guess i'll be buying this new release too, although i'm still waiting for the dawn of the dead special edition. haven'T seen it before, but zombies in a mall sounds like fun
btw, the amityville 3d dvd contains a fantastic transfer, it changes from fullscreen to widescreen in the last 5 minutes
somebody told me you have a boyfriend who looks like a girldfriend that i had in february of last year the killers

taking from the original script:
EXT. THE HARBOUR PARK - DAY
THE TRIO of refugees move across the grass. The WIND blows
DEBRIS around them as they stare towards the downtown
buildings. MIGUEL lifts THE BULLHORN to his mouth.
MIGUEL
HELLO. IS THERE ANYONE THERE? HELLO.
HELLOOOOOOO....
EXT. THE CITY - DAY
MONTAGE: as THE WALKING DEAD hear that human VOICE. Throughout
the city they turned towards THE SOUND, at once confused and
excited.
MIGUEL (o.s.)
HELLOOOOOOOOOOO....
THE DEAD start to GROAN hungrily, almost pleadingly. All over
the city their VOICES RISE.
EXT. THE HARBOUR PARK - DAY
It comes to MIGUEL AND THE OTHERS as A MASSIVE WALL OF NOISE,
THE SOUND of hundreds-of-thousands of damned souls moaning on
one solid voice. The sound of hell on earth.
EXT. THE MARINA (AT THE DOCKS) - DAY
TONY AND MARIA hear it as well and feel the familiar grip of
cold fear. Maria makes the sign of the cross.
MARIA
Dios mia.
TONY
I tol' him. I tol' him this is a dead
place. Like all the others.
i like that shot from the opening scene of the movie and then the top news "the dead walk!" wow
well, it seams that my laserdisc get's a brother
i heard that anchor bay will release also a 4 disc set of "dawn of the dead" including the complete director's cut, the one that i have on my elite laserdisc
, and the european cut from dario agento :big grin: and lot's of extras including audio commentary. wow wow wow is the only thing i can say about. but somehow all this nice dvds have a big flaw in it, they all will be matted widescreen
but that's the only bad thing about those dvds

05-27-2003, 11:41 PM #8yeah, that's a good scene. always thought this flick was underrated. as far zombie movies go, DOTD is pretty awesome. great makeup/fx by tom savini (director of the remake of NOTLD) and great suspense and atmosphere.Originally posted by bender
