Fun little movie! It was very much in the spirit of "When Harry met Sally" and consequently a great date movie. Not much layering to the plot, but without revealing too much, goes along with the idea of art imitating life, and life imitating art. The "novel" is sappy and melodramatic, but once you accept the fact that the "novel" is supposed to be that way, it makes the movie a lot of fun. Kate Hudson tries to put some range on her acting by playing 5 characters. While I commend Husdon for this, I would like to see how well she can perform in more serious roles. I think she can be a great actress, and has the potential to fill Julia Roberts shoes. Luke Wilson seems to enjoy his time spent on this film. I liked the writer more than his "novel" alter-ego, although both were funny.

I give the movie 3.5/5 Stars
