Gangs Of New York

Hi,

I thought I would post my very first message on here, seems a good forum.

Just got Gangs Of New York on DVD, for some reason or another I never got round to seeing it on the big screen, when you watch this it does not 'feel' like a Scorsese movie-I mean comepare this to Mean Streets or The Last Waltz- but I found it very, very enjoyable and dynamic in its epic scope. Also Daniel Day-Lewis (as usual) is on top form, but Leo's part should have gone to Johnny Depp if you ask me.

The extras are ok, there is nothing really brilliant on disc 2, but the commentry by Scorsese is very interesting, shame some of the cast coulden't have been included though.

For The Film I give: 9/10
For The Extras: 7/10

thx for the info. i have not heard any reviews on this movie. if you said it wuz good, then it wuz probably good

my boyfriend are thinking about either going to see it at the old dollar theater or renting it on the DVD sometimes this week. i've been wanting to see it for awhile now.

You should go rent it...definately an interesting take on the irish in new york...there are some very interesting aspects to the film that i highly enoyed-namely the filming and angels utilized at times to heighten the tense atmosphere were suberb. I agree also that Daniel Day Lewis was top notch as usual...never epxect anything less from him....definatley recommend if you havn't seen it...i mean why not? ya know...
