I just finished watching Poseidon last night. Rather enjoyed it.

I saw three great classics and one really stupid movie over the past 4 days:
    3:10 To Yuma (1957) 5/5
    Fort Apache (1948) 4.5/5
A Fistful Of Dynamite (Duck, You Sucker) (Once Upon A Time... The Revolution) (1971) 5/5

... and this one got 1/2 point for the head-biting scene and the last 30 seconds (if the best looking girls didn't die first, I might have rated it higher ):
    Abominable (2006) 0.5/5

Fort Apache A film I watched over and over and over and over again as a kid. What a great film.
Sgt. Johnny Beaufort: He says, "The Apaches are a great race," sir. "They've never been conquered. But it is not well for a nation to be always at war. The young men die... the women sing sad songs... and the old ones are hungry in the winter."

I agree. At first I thought I've already seen it, but then I found out that the one I've seen is She Wore A Yellow Ribbon (1949), another John Ford western with John Wayne and very similar to Fort Apache. Both movies are great.

As I see on IMDb, these movies are the first two in Ford's Cavalry Trilogy. The third one is Rio Grande (1950)... I'm not sure if I've see it, maybe I have - as a kid.

Caligula (1979) with Malcolm McDowell, Peter O'Toole and Helen Mirren.
I saw the extended un-cut version.
2.5/5 *I have no idea how to rate this film* o_O

At first I think that Malcolm McDowell was overacting, but this can be see as a positive since Caligula was crazy.
It's very graphical, which leaves no place to imagination, it's almost a porn movie and it is not exaggerated. You saw boobs and p*nises everywhere, you can SEE orgies, anal fisting, rape, blow job ...

I don't know what to think after see the movie. Good? Bad? This is a weird weird movie.

Well as I recall it was financed by Penthouse Magazine. I remember seeing 1/2 of it at the cinema when it was released. I would like to claim it was the violence and depravity which made me leave on principle, but the truth was I was very drunk and didn't think that throwing up in the cinema was an especially good look. One of the very few movies I have actually walked out on.

I watched or 1/2 watched (again) a 1998 movie on TV a childrens movie called "Halloweentown" . Nothing wrong with it and Debbie Reynolds looked to be ageing well, but I was tired and falling asleep so went for a nap.

"About Schmidt" is on TV in about an hour. May watch it again if I can keep awake........zzzzzzzzzzz

Saw 3: i gota say i disagree with farmboybob, but i guess this is gona be good for everyone else to get 2 sides to the coin. i personally didnt like Saw 3 at all.. i felt it took away the main elements that gave the shock factor in the first 2 movies. O yeah and this movie has some of the crappest torture scenes, they really run outa ideas for sum of them! the twist in the movie was also waay too obvious whereas the twists in the first 2 movies were harder to spot! This movie (for me) took away the shock factor feeling that "woah this cud actually happen to you if der was sadistic people after you"
    2/5

My favourite evergreen is "Fight Club". Not even because of the story, i like to see Brad Pitt acting.

Caligula is an adult film that was disguised as an "Art" film when it was released and it benefited from the hype it received in the media because it played at regular theater multi-plexes!!

But compared to adult films at the time in the 80s, it was crap!!

    Saw 3

    4 out of 5

I would give it a higher rating but the last act is so confusing!!

great movie, but pixar is loosing ground and quality. I really hope their next movie will be a bit more funnier again. Pixar kind of stopped to raise the CGI bar.
But overall its still a great movie for everyone, I enjoyed it.

the first hour is extremely well done, incredible good acting, very VERY lovely characters and some parts were unusual scary
Agreed, its NOT for kids, if I as a kid would have seen the scene with the red hand grabbing for the bed, I bet I would have had nightmares for weeks.

Sneaked out at work again to see The Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D. I must admit I'm never a big fan of the movie, but it's always fun to see a 3D movie purely for the effects.

The 3D effects of this one is very humble, by that I mean they're not as exaggerated as pure 3D movies (eg Cyberworld 3D). Which is probably honest to the original layouts, considering they weren't intentionally making it a 3D movie back in 93. Though it's sorely lacking some "so-right-in-front-of-your-eyes-you-can-almost-touch-it" moments that's even presented in one occasion in the 3D version of Hitchcock's Dial M For Murder.

Also saw Exiled - the uncut version* - this evening. WOW! Definitely the best movie from Hong Kong of the year. Definitely on top of my 10 best movies list of the year. I'll give a 6 out of 5 (and you know me, I don't give praises to anyone or anything often).

In short: This is what stylised romantised story about the mateship (bonds) of men with guns is supposed to be. Haven't seen any film of this genre THIS good since "A Better Tomorrow" (although The Mission, a "cousin" of this film made by the same director, is also not-to-miss.)

    * According to local newspaper reports, all theatrical print of Exiled showing in Hong Kong (except the one shown in the film's premiere and in Venice Film Festival) are missing a shot of two characters handshaking. This is to avoid the film being classified as Category III (equivalent to US's NC-17) because the authority claimed the handshake resembles a kind of Triad secret handshake. The film print I saw this evening, however, have this shot of handshaking intact. This is one of the few occasions that I'm glad of living in Australia, considering our prudish OFLC has banned more films on ridiculous grounds than any other countries in the world except maybe China.
