    5/5

A true story of a group of 71 undertrained and undergunned student-soldiers for South Korea during the Korean War, who were mostly killed on August 11, 1950, during the Battle of P'ohang-dong, while defending P'ohang-dong girls' middle school, a strategic point for safeguarding the Nakdong River, from an attack by overwhelming North Korean forces for 11 hours.

Okay, I am aware that when you watcb a movie, you need to have a willing suspension of disbelief but in this particular movie, you need to leave your brain and logic at the door.

    The Package (1989)

    4.5/5

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098051/

a very under-rated little known cold war thriller from the 80s with a great cast: Hackman, Cassidy, Tommy Lee, Grier, Franz.

If you'd never seen this, you should!

    BLAH!

    2.5/5

Even the corny 1993 version with Kiefer Sutherland and Chris O'Donnell and Charlie Sheen and Julie Delpy and Rebecca De Mornay and Gabrielle Anwar and Tim Curry is much better than this!!

    Drive (2011)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0780504/

A CAPER movie that had a good intention with its story but it's poorly executed, incompetently written, filled with cliches and out of place scenes, sloppy acting, unnecessary violence that doesn't add anything to the substance of the film and uninteresting narrative.

This movie also lacks identity: it wants to be Gone In 60 Seconds One Minute, The Transporter the next minute, Reservoir Dogs the next, than back to The Transporter again and then Pulp Fiction and when it tries to imitate the early 80s Michael Mann films with the nighttime photography, that's when you want to scream in pain.

The dialogue is boring and unmemorable; the characters uninteresting; the acting is shallow and empty, especially Gosling's and Mulligan's, both actors who shouldn't have any business whatsoever attempting to play any dramatic roles requiring depth and drama.

This movie was hailed by many critics as a cinematic masterpiece but you know critics; half of them don't know what the HECK they are talking about three quarter of the time.

There are better caper movies out there like Reservoir Dogs and The Bank Job and The Thomas Crown Affair (original) and Heat and this is not it!!

I can make a list of movies that should never have won Best Picture and Best Director but had and in today's Hollywood, it's not talent and quality that wins awards most of the time; it's money and who you know and whose ass you can kiss.

If you like a movie where you can sit for almost 2 hrs waiting for something to happen and nothing happens and you like to waste your time doing it; then this movie is for you.

Of course, if you are that person, then you must also like visiting the dentist and watching grass grow for hours at the time.

    Otherwise, look elsewhere!

    My rating:

    0.5/5

    my lowest rating of any movies I've seen in 2012 so far;

lower than the previous two films I've seen this year that I'd previously rated the lowest

    Trust (2010) 1.25/5 on 01-05-2012

    and

The House of the Devil (2009) 2/5 on 01-11-2012

Quel Maledetto Treno Blindato (1978) aka The Inglorious Bastards

    my rating: 3/5

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076584/

I brought this movie home because I read somewhere that Quentin got his inspiration for Inglorious Basterds from this.

I've seen bits and pieces of this movie before!

I can't remember where but it may have been on Cable TV or something.

But surely not on VHS or DVD.

I brought home the DVD and I had to special order it - we didn't have it in our inventory and our inventory system shows we'd never had a copy of the VHS either.

    Immortals (2011)

    5/5

    What an awesome film!

    Better than "300"!!

$75 Million Budget, Grossed over $217 Million so it's not a flop by the 2.5x Hollywood rule!!

    Bring on the Sequel!!

Yesterday i Watched steven spielberg's TINTIN movie,

I enjoyed it even if i sometimes felt the movie betrayed tintin charachter.

there is too much action, tintin is always carrying a gun and Haddock is not at all what i expected...

don't get me wrong, i liked the movie and i'll watch the next one, but i'm a little disapointed.

    my rating :

    The Bodyguard (1992)

    4/5

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103855/

    Whitney Houston's smashing film debut.

Watching this movie reminds all of us how one person can rise and fall from grace and fame so quickly and how life is short and fleeting and we are all on this earth for a short time.

    The Adventures of Tintin (2011)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0983193/

I had high expectations for this film and yet, it turned out to be one of the most tedious movies I've seen in a long time.

First, it just keeps going and going - like the Falcon chase sequence; it was totally prolonged with no excitement and interest whatsoever.

Then, there is Tintin who needs to explain everything he is going to do to the audience before he does it - as if the audience is dumb!!

I am not sorry to give this a 2/5.... one of the most awful, chaotic animated feature films I've seen in a long time!!

    Hugo (II) (2011)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0970179/

Once again, another movie that suffered from a deceptive trailer.

The trailer made you think that the Automaton was a magical door to a different world and yet, the story had nothing to do with it.

The story we got was long and boring and uninteresting!

This was nominated for Best Picture?

    You must be joking!!

The last movie I'd complained about having a deceptive trailer, it was "Hancock"!!

There need to be a law about truth in movie trailer advertising.

Just like Adventures of Tintin - another over hyped and over rated film of 2011, I give this 2/5 too!!

    Puss in Boots (2011)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0448694/

    stay away from this!

there is nothing to see here!

just a big noisy exposition of nothing!!

another over-hyped movie of 2011, along with Adventures of Tintin and Hugo, that gets a

    2/5

    from me!!

For me it was a nice homage to the beginning of the film.

This was nominated for Best Picture?
    And quite rightly.
