Fantastic. Not really into arthourse kinda stuff, but once you throw in some Sci-Fi... you got me.
    I brought that DVD home one day;

I watched a few min of it and then fell asleep and I'd never went back to finish it before having to return it.

    Is it really good?

    Cabin In The Woods

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1259521/

    What a piece of crap!!

From all the reviews I've read about this film in the past few months on how good this movie is and how it is not the same recycled horror movie over and over, I was excited to see this film.

Now that I have seen it, I am extremely disappointed!!

    I was expecting it to bring something new and fresh to the horror movie genre and instead it's a rehash of everything we've seen in the horror movies in the past so many years;

plus it's also a copycat of several Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Dollhouse episodes plus the Cube Trilogy and the Matrix Trilogy and many other horror films rolled into one.

Sure, this movie is from Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard of Buffy and Dollhouse fame but come on, they couldn't come up with something original instead of borrowing from their own material?

1/5 and that's being extremely generous!

    Airport (1970)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065377/

I can't believe this movie grossed $100 Million!!

    4/5

    Airport 1975 (1974)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071110/

I remember watching this in the movie theater when I was 9 and it kept me on the edge of my seat.

Now, almost 40 years later, it's still an exciting movie.

    4/5

    Airport '77 (1977)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075648/

Not as good as Airport and Airport 1975 but it's still a good 70s disaster movie, a genre which they no longer make!

    3/5

    The Concorde... Airport '79 (1979)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078740/

Oh! They should had stopped at '77!!

    What were they thinking?

There was talk about an Airport '82 but after Airport '79 flopped, plans for it were scrapped.

    Thank the maker!

    The Yakuza (1974)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073918/

A forgotten, under-rated, crime classic about a subject that is still little known in the Western World: the Yakuza, the Japanese organized crime syndicates.

This is a movie about a Man's honour, friendships, debts and obligations.

If you haven't seen this movie, you need to.

Wonderful movie. very moving and with a stellar performance from Sam Rockwell. Another rare example of SF with heart and intelligence, not just a cheesy bloated CGI-fest.

    Highly recommended

    The Betrayed (2008)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1074191/

Interesting little thriller starring Melissa George with a few twists along the way.

Well worth a look if you never seen this or heard of this.

Captain Kirk saves the President of the United States.

    This is a theatrical movie?

I don't remember it ever playing at the movie theater.

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0311113/

Finally watched this for the first time after its release almost 10 years ago:

the movie is slow, the battle sequences are a confusing mess and the ending really really really really sucked.

It's no wonder this movie flopped at the box office and plans for an entire film franchise were scrapped.

    That's a good thing!!

    The Hunger Games (2012)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1392170/

Just finished watching "The Hunger Games".

    I am Extremely Disappointed!

This is the 3rd movie this year that have received High Praises from Critics and Audiences that I've seen that turned out to be CRAP!

You got to start wondering if Audiences and Critics today even know what the **** they are talking about and whether they can even distinguish a good movie from a bad movie!!

It's a rehash of so many movies and books before it, including the 1996 Japanese book "Battle Royale" and the 1924 short story "The Most Dangerous Game"

There is absolutely nothing original nor exciting about it.

The pacing is slow, the action is lacking, considering the premise of it is for the Tributes to kill each other until there is only one standing, and there is very little killing.

    The actors and actresses playing the characters including Jennifer Lawrence have no presence;

the characters are paper thin and many of them are just window dressing.

Then there are things that are revealed in the film but not explained:

for example, is the Arena a computer generated world like a Holodeck?

How can the Gov't make it go from sunlight to darkness just like that, among other things?

Worst movie I've seen this year along with Drive and The Cabin In The Woods, two other over-hyped, over-praised stinkers.

It's like the part when Katniss was stuck in the tree: totally absurd!!

They fired a couple of arrows at her and missed and they gave up.

    Excuse me?

The tree can be approached from the entire 360 degrees radius below it.

Not only that, they don't even have to be close to it because a bow and arrow is a long range weapon.

They couldn't try to hit her with an arrow from another side?

    Oh I get it.

If they did, then Katniss would have died, the movie and story would have ended and we wouldn't have 2 more books and 2 money milking film sequels.

    A convenient Plot Device!

    Exclamation

I finally got caught up and watched all 8 Harry Potter films.

It's kind of strange to see them start out as little kids and get bigger and older with each film.

I want to say The Order of the Phoenix is the weakest of the entire franchise.

I never read the books so I don't know how close they kept with the books and what they did leave out.

But I want to say the final chapter, The Deathly Hallows 1 and 2 were a fitting way to close the series although I wish they would make more.

    There is room for sequels!!

My rating, Order of Phoenix: 3/5

    The other 7 films: 4/5 to 4.75/5
