    Gangster Squad (2013)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1321870/

Poorly written, poorly paced, poorly edited muddled film filled with historical inaccuracies that tries too hard be the gangster movie that it will never be!

I just watched this after my friend been telling me for years to see it.

The Flight of the Phoenix (1965)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059183/

It was okay but I feel there may be some continuity problem (maybe due to editing).

Also, it lacked any kind of suspense and tension whatsoever.

Never did I once felt for these people who are supposedly stranded in the middle of the Arabian desert with limited water, no food and on the verge of death.

I watched the Blu-Ray of one of my favorite World War II Films.

    The Longest Day (1962)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056197/

I just have one complaint about it.

    Too much John Wayne!

I am American. I am proud to be an American. Sure, WW II would not have been won without the U.S.

    BUT

do we have to chest beat ourselves to the world in every movie?

John Wayne is the chest beating I am referring to.

He had way too much screen time - I think more than any other actors in the entire film.

Furthermore, according to IMDB trivia, he was paid $250k for it while every other actor in it were paid $25k or less.

That's not fair when Wayne never served in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II when some of the actors in the movie actually saw combat in World War II on the American, British, French and even on the German side.

All the scenes with John Wayne leading a small rag tag unit made up of stragglers from the 82nd Airborne and 101 Airborne are wasted.

He is supposed to be playing Colonel Vandervoort who led Airborne units in the defense of the town of Sainte-Mère-Église on 6 June.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_H._Vandervoort

Yet, they didn't even have a battle scene for Wayne and his group.

The whole set up was just an excuse for Wayne to read his macho patriotic we are Americans so we are the good guys feel good dialogue!

I want to give this a 10/10 or a 5/5 but because of douche bag Wayne, I will give it 8/10 or 4.5/5

I know you will disagree with this one, but just a note, and not a debate, it's Russia (Soviet Union) that won the war.
The first major German defeat was the Battle of Stalingrad in August 1942, while the U.S. entered the war in December 1941 after Pearl, and were too busy fighting Japan to worry about the Germans.
By the time the U.S. got to the Germans, they were pretty well worn down and disorganized because of the Russians kicking their butts. Just Saying....

    That is partly true;

keep in mind if the U.S. didn't enter the war, Japan would had conquered the entire Pacific including Australia and Burma and maybe even go as far as Alaska.

Russia was not contributing much to fighting the Japanese.

    Tequila Sunrise (1988)

A very under-rated Classic Celluloid Gem from the 80's.

    Warm Bodies (2013)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1588173/

Strange movie yet kind of silly and cute at the same time.

A zombie take on the classic Romeo and Juliet story.

Teresa Palmer is just scalding hot and sexy without even trying to be sexy and hot.

She had an impact on me the very first time I'd ever seen her in I Am Number Four.

    I just watched

    Iron Man 3

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1300854/

Stupid plot especially with the Mandarin and the human experiments.

    So predictable and so uninteresting.

Then all those Iron Man armor just showing up on time to save the day over and over and over again, so annoying.

    Shane Black wrote this?

    Shame on him!

Iron Man 3 and The Avengers and Dark Knight Rising are 3 of the most over-hyped, biggest piece of crap Superhero movies I've seen recently and the trend continues in a downward spiral.

I haven't seen Man Of Steel yet but I am sure it will stink too.

Hollywood is on this Superhero movie cash cow high!

    Their thinking is this:

if we make one, no matter how stupid and absurd the script is, people will rush to the theater and pay uber amount of money for it.

Hollywood is cranking them out too fast, several of them a year every year now.

All this Superhero movies hype is going to implode one day!

    Now You See Me (2013)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1670345/

This movie is a case of the trailer being more interesting than the movie itself.

Furthermore, the trailer gave you the impression it's one movie and the movie itself is totally different.

I had high expectations for this movie after I saw the trailer for the first time about 3 months ago.

Unfortunately, the story and movie fizzled right after the first act.

Stay away and don't waste 2+ hours of your time and life on it!

The One That Got Away (1957)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050803/

I found this little known gem of a movie on YouTube and downloaded it.

    Incredible true story of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franz_von_Werra

with an awesome performance by Hardy Kruger.

    4.75/5

I would had given it 5 stars but the German dialogue parts had no translation and the Subtitles I found for it had no translation either.

    World War Z (2013)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0816711/

Another Zombie/Apocalypse/Virus Pandemic/The World Is Going To End movie...

...Is Hollywood trying to tell us something?

Anyway, I had good expectations for this film when I first saw the trailer and once again, this is another film that had a better trailer than the actual movie itself.

There are just so many plot holes, stupid plot devices, continuity issues that even suspending disbelief because you are supposed to do that when you watch a movie won't even help.

Waste of Brad Pitt and Marc Forster and also, the CGI and SFX could had used a bit more work and post production cleaning.

Now there is a talk of a sequel...

    REALLY? SERIOUSLY? WHY? WHY? WHY?
