    Inferno (2016)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3062096/

3rd film adaptation of Dan Brown's Robert Langdon book series and this one, as the previous 2 films, is also directed by Ron Howard.

Ron Howard is a great actor and a great director of comedy and light hearted movies but when it comes to directing deep visceral tension filled thrillers adapted from books with complex storylines and multiple plots and subplots like the Dan Brown's Robert Langdon series, he fails miserably on all levels just like he did previously with The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons.

I will have to give this the same rating I gave the previous 2 Robert Langdon films:

    1/5

In March 2007, this was my review of The Da Vinci Code:

Sterile acting by everyone and Let's Play It Safe Cause We Don't Want To Offend Any Christians Directing by Ron Howard

I hope Ron is not directing the next one and Tom won't be in it!!
In May 2009, this was my review of Angels and Demons:

they insulted the book again just like they did with The Da Vinci Code

Once again Ron Howard is not the right director for this genre and Tom Hanks is not Robert Langdon

just because Da Vinci Code made a lot of $$$; it doesn't equal quality

    Nerve (2016)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3531824/

I turned this off after less than 15 minutes.

That is how bad (and absurd) it is!

Since I didn't watch the entire movie, I can only rate it 0/5

    The Accountant (2016)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2140479/

    Brilliant! Absolutely Brilliant!!

Best film I've see (so far) in 2016.

It's also very moving with a human compassion angle.

The last scenes of the last act made me cry a bit.

If they want to turn this into a sequel franchise, I will take it.

    5/5 or 10/10

    The Magnificent Seven (2016)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2404435/

Good final shootout sequence but that's it. It lacks the heart and human depth of the original.

The end was predictable. I saw it coming from 15 min away.

The only empowered woman in the entire town saves the main hero's life and kills the main bad guy.

    2/5

The 1960 film spawned 3 sequels.

Got to keep that left wing liberal political correctness going!

I am watching this. I've seen this movie over half a dozen times, twice of those times in the theater in 3D and in 3D IMAX, and I love it; but I don't understand the point of re-releasing it in B&W except to make more money!

    Here's my original review:

    http://www.movie-list.com/forum/show...743#post234743

Where's the sequel? I want the sequel! Damn IT! Bring on the sequel!!

Too many movies lately that are good and then the sequels are slow slow coming and the yucky junk movies get a sequel every year!

    Which reminds me:

Whatever happened to the sequels to SALT and to AVATAR?

    Call Of Heroes (2016)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5842624/

By the numbers formulaic martial arts movie with guns!!

A bit too much time spent on several scenes lecturing about honor and duty and right and wrong and loyalty, etc, etc and lots of kneeling scenes, lots of kneeling!

    3/5

Saving General Yang (2016) aka Yang Jia Jiang

    This was pretty good.

Supposedly some of it is true.

It's based on this real Chinese story:

I want 101 minutes of my life back. I can see why this movie was pulled from Universal's theatrical release lineup and sold to NetFlix!

Because it sucks and it copied everything from video games to Aliens.

I am watching this French movie from 1984.

Without clicking on the IMDB link below and just looking at the above screenshot and movie poster, what other movie does it remind you of?

(think another movie with the same story line as this one that came out 3 years later.)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084540/

    According to Wiki,

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_prix_du_danger

this movie was based on a 1958 short story:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Prize_of_Peril

So the other movie that came out in 1987 that was based on a novel by a famous author, that author copycat the above novel then and the producers of that film copied this movie.

    Beyond the Gates (2016)

When I saw the teaser trailer (at the above IMBD page), I had high hopes for this movie.

Good premise but very poorly executed. Could had been a great horror flick.

    Sugar Mountain (2016)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3553378/

Money is the root of all evil especially in the hands of 3 idiots who just kept digging themselves a deeper and deeper hole to perpetrate a hoax and a lie.

Good acting and decent story and a few twists along the way helps this movie which has a few unpolished spots but overall it's still better than what's being cranked out to the theaters nowadays.

    3.5/5

    Morgan (2016)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4520364/

This is what happens when the son of a world famous director gets a directoral project.

Unremarkable, unoriginal, predictable, been done to death already too many times in the past few years!!

Waste of time and waste of a group of fine actors and actresses!

Now they are touting this as the BEST Star Wars ever, better than TESB!

    Great!

That means Disney doesn't even have to try to put out a good product for Episode 8 and 9 and the other standalone movies they are planning for the Star Wars franchise.

Rogue One being called the BEST Star Wars ever since TESB, just set the bar very very low for future Star Wars movies.

I dread how they (Disney) are also going to ruin Indiana Jones 5 since Disney now also own the Indiana Jones movies franchise.
