    GoodMorning, Vietnam

    Anybody seen this film? I watched it last night, I was ver surprised on how good it was. One of the best Robin Williams films I have seen, next to One Hour Photo, Mrs. Doubtfire and Dead Poets Society.

    It's about a radio presenter going over to Vietnam to entertain the soldiers and all the problems he has to overcome.

    There's a brilliant line in it-

    "It's hot, humid and there's terrorist's waiting to kill you, still, it's better than New York in the Summer."

    yeah this is a good movie, but i hardly remember it, i only know that its a comedy and that Robin William plays a DJ who makes sort of fun of the war in a very sarcastic way....

    That is one of my favorites. Robin Williams at his best.

    Saw it once on TV. This is what I remember the most:

    Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause of the leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.

    BTW can anyone decode these jargons?

    V.P. =?
    V.I.P. = Very Important Person
    P.C. =?
    Q.T. =?
    V.C. = Viet Cong?
    M.I.A. = Missing In Action
    K.P. =?

    As you can see I'm not a very military person.

    V.P. = Vice President (Nixon)
    V.I.P. = Very Important Person
    P.C. = Press Conference
    Q.T. = quiet (on the Q.T. = secret)
    V.C. = Viet Cong
    M.I.A. = Missing In Action
    K.P. = Kitchen Police (think peeling potatoes)

    BTW, P.C. is an abbreviations used by one of the characters. I don't think it is a true abbreviation for press conference, although it sounds official.

    Are you implying that I have an Army background?

    One year of Boy Scouts was as close as I got to serving in any of the Armed Forces, although I am flattered that you would think I did something like that. (I was heavily recruited by the Navy, but I'm not good at taking orders so I passed.) My grandfather fought in WWI and was an air raid warden during WWII (although why they would need an air raid warden in central Ohio I still don't understand), and one of my dad's cousins died in Vietnam, but that is as close to a military history that I have. Other than watching movies and TV, of course.

    Or, try Amazon.com, or eBay, depending on whether you think its worthy to get it with a (slightly) higher price...
