I'm just curious what's with the weird sizes? Are you resizing to 640 and THEN cropping? Even so it should still be at 640 if you're not recalculating the height for the 620 width (except that you're stretching the image larger if you resize first). Just wondering.

07-16-2003, 02:27 PM #3the original mpeg2 file is 640x480 letterbox and after cropping i get something like 632x347 and then pixels have to be interpolated. that's why i made it in 620 with correct aspect ratio. and no interpolationOriginally posted by Mark Strube

All mpeg 2 from DVD's is 720 width... unless you're getting it from some weird source and not DVD, it's 720. That's why I brought this up.

07-17-2003, 06:31 AM #6you're right but i thought in a 4:3 source it's only 640 what you see and that's why i made 620. so i can safely do 640 even with a 4:3 source and not fearing of interpolation the image?Originally posted by Mark Strube

07-17-2003, 01:35 PM #7Yep! Every source, whether it's 4:3 or 16:9 is 720... just crop the edges off the left and right and make it 640 (since those edges don't count into the equation). If there is no cropping to be done on the left and right, just leave it at 720, but of course you have to recalculate the height then. (for example, with 1.85:1, 640x360 or 720x404 are correct)Originally posted by bender
