    Review: Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle

Well what can I say about this film? It's a fun movie, but really, really loud! Perhaps it was just my theater, but it the volume level thru most of the big-action scenes almost hurt, particularly when metal-music was involved.

Most of the scenes in the movie were comical and over the top. I found myself asking quite a bit "why are they doing that/acting like that". I noticed one thing though. The shots got longer as the movie progressed. Interesting....

Anyway, to comment on characters, my favorite was Demi Moore as the villian Madison Lee. She seemed to really have fun with the role. It was the most honest of the bunch. Of the Angel's themselves, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu got tiring really quickly. They were very much gum-chewing cheerleader mentalities in the film. Drew Barrymore got better as the film progressed, as she was allowed to flex her dramatic acting muscles.

I would say that the movie gets 2.75/5 stars, and only because it improves as it progresses to the end.

i agree. i had to screen it on thursday of last week and ended up leaving before it was finished because i found it just so annoying. especially diaz. at my threater, it didn't do well at all. most people wanted to see 28 days or the hulk...

    i just saw the movie.
although i think the first one was great fun, i don't really like the second one. there's no real story in there, even the first movie had to offer more. it seems like the few story bits were just thrown in to somehow connect the dancing and fighting scenes. if the first one was over the top i don't know how to call that one
    6/10

oh, and i wonder how many laughs "roger wixon" will get in german theaters
somebody told me you have a boyfriend who looks like a girldfriend that i had in february of last year the killers

CA2: The ultimate movie for those with ADD. You can practically hear the script meetings for this.

"Hmmm.... let's throw in a dance sequence! Better yet, 3!"
"Uh, the plot really can only take 1..."
"Shut up! Hey McG, have you sold your soul to Prodigy in exchange for all their music yet?"
"Working on it... Hey, don't forget the innuendo for the 8 yr olds!"

And that's the result. It's mindless fun, but it ended up feeling lacking to me. There was too much stupidity. See, there's a smart-dumb continuum, and all the action and T&A falls into a non-dumb point on that... it has no intelligence, but no stupidity. It just is. But whenever they're making really bad dumb innuendo, it's dumb, and you're wondering why no one is jiggling or blowing **** up.

    5/10.

yeah i totaly agree...i went in thinkin il go for a great mindless popcorn flick to b entertained for a bit....but heck i was bored even more....most of the fight scenes were shot soo badly it was really hard to tell what was goin on, but u kinda have to imagine sum bits urself and realise wats happened...and some bits of the movies like how the angels escape from each scene are just toooo unbelievable, at points u feel as thou ur intelligence is being taken the piss out of....movie was no where near as entertainin as the first movie, personally i reckon its a 3.5/4 out of 10......for a entertainin pop corn flick i personally reckon 2fast 2 furious was much better, even tho that wasnt perfect...but still alot better den CA:2

did ne1 notice how the Justice information was going to be sold out in da open, just like the noc list in mission impossible 1, and they use the masks like in mission impossible, and also matt le blanc movie is a spoof typa thing of mission impossible aswell, they shoulda put some more time in the script...it was terrible and da main bits were just ripped off, and the creepy thin man was in da movie for "lets just add him in" kinda thing

personally i think Charlies Angels 1 was a much much beta movie

Spend some time on the script? `
This is Charlies Angels here, the first one was fun because it was big dumb and never took itself seriously. The fact that the sequel was dumber wasn't a flaw because it took itself less seriously. The toungue in cheek nature was still there, the cast had a lot of fun which resulted in the feeling of fun being transported out of the film. McG was brilliant as Bosley, the 3 girls still have an easy to like charm that involves more than just their bikini line, and well...

They did a dirt bike race, and on one of the bumps the camera goes slow mo, and in those 2 seconds they still managed to recreate the entire roof top scene from Matrix.

It wasn't a good film by any means. It was crap, but it was fun crap. It's intentional silliness made it a little better than mediocr movies like The Matrix Reloaded **, and was certainly a lot better than that piece of crap 2fast 2furious*.

    **half/5

i guess thats where myn and ur taste in movies differ i guess...

i do agree tho McG was a great bosley

its just that i expect a nice budget movie to have atleast an average script! this script felt like a mess! (agen i guess thats my opinion) and even the action wasnt excellent, i believe the first movie had more better action scenes, and yea i gota admit...i liked all the Cleese parts wid Lucy Lui, them were hilarious...

my opinion of 2fast 2furious being better was becuz, agen it was a popcorn flick wid much more better action scenes, that can keep u at the edge of ur seat and has an average story, nothing great..............

I agree.. this movie is just a fun summer movie. I don't think you can really review the plot or the acting. It was a good fun movie though.

Well.. that was fast action... and so much of it!
Totally blown away @ the loudness of the movie. Excellent parodies to movies and tv series. Music was well played. Great play @ all action movies. Defintely this years best rollercoaster popcorn flick! Well... so far the best.
A strong 3.5/5 from me!! Go Pink!!

Lets see if you can name all the movies/tv shows it makes fun of!

I've being going through a really difficult time these last few weeks. You see I've been trying to catch up on a lot of the classic movies that I've missed, which in itself is a very good thing and I've really enjoyed myself. However my problem is, that after watching so many films along the lines of China Town, On The Waterfront and Rashomon, I've forgotten how to review a popcorn movie. A film like Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle though was probably the worst place to start, but I felt like a challenge, so I decided that this would be the next film I would review.

Where to begin then? The plot of the movie was, oh wait it was none existent. The characters, if I'm allowed to call them that, better resembled cutouts from the Sports Illustrated Swim Suite edition, in both their appearance and emotion. Maybe I should stop here for a second and explain that last comment before the feminist movement takes me to court. I was not degrading women, nor was I claiming that attractive women can not have personalities, rather I was saying that if you cut the pictures out of a magazine you end up with an attractive image that lacks anything remotely resembling a personality. Sorry guys, but you know that they're lurking everywhere and you have to be very careful how you word these things nowadays. Anyway I'm getting a little sidetracked here, I was supposed to be telling you about the characters. A group of 3 cutouts from a swimsuit magazine who also know kung fu.

The obvious exception to this rule is the character of Bosley. He definitely didn't look like a swimsuit model, At least not one I'd imagine being popular, and so he is forced to bring a little comic timing to his jokes. I liked the physical way that Bill Murrey played the character in the first film, but I like Big Macs more verbal approach even more. There are some hilarious gags at his expense as he plays a Cleuso like idiot who occasionally bumps into clues for the angels. Mac has a confidence for his role and it comes across like he's having as much fun as the rest of the cast. Although sadly I can imagine him now being typecast into this role, and while I don't really think he could have much range, I can still see him becoming annoying if he's given an entire film.

Sadly though, as good as Bosley was, he was as underused as he was in the first one. The majority of the film focuses more on the three girls who are only interested in having a good time. They come across with a natural charm, and really seem to be enjoying themselves, but they don't bring any of their talents to the roles. I've seen them all give decent performances in popcorn movies before but director Mc G was honestly not interested in their talents. He was more interested in making the most action packed film he could and what were left with is one of those films. A film that gives all the hallmarks of female empowerment, while at the same time making those same females spend the whole time in increasingly skimpy costumes.

That's the tone of the film though, girls in Bikini's getting into action. It's got those 2 important ingredients for an action film, Bikini's and Explosions, but not much else. There in though lies the charm of Full Throttle. It's a blockbuster without pretense, a film that sets out to entertain the masses but decides to be fun while doing it. There's no hackneyed attempt at a love story, and certainly none of the pretences of depth found in The Matrix Reloaded. It's simply a film that knows what it is, and is confident enough in that fact to have a laugh and make the film fun. It's still crap, but at least it's fun crap.
