    "Bruce Almighty" banned in Malaysia

    http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...malaysia_movie

Not even Jim Carrey's huge comedy hit Bruce Almight stands a chance in Malaysia, which continues to add to its growing list of movies that have fallen afoul of the censors.

The government minister called for the comedy to be banned, deeming it offensive to Muslims. The minister, who is responsible for religious affairs, said the theme of the movie isn't "appropriate."

In the film, Carrey is challenged by God to take over the running of the world to see if he can do a better job of it. The minister says "we cannot equate ourselves with God almighty even as a joke."

Films previously banned from the country, due to moral or religious grounds, include Daredevil, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and Zoolander.

dear lord.... some countries are still in the middle ages... or are some Islamic states really that narrow minded?...

Another example why there needs to be a sepereation between religion and state.
You're waiting for a train, a train that will take you far away. You know where you hope this train will take you, but you can't be sure. But it doesn't matter - because we'll be together.

[Note to self....never move to Malaysia. Ever]

Don't you think the people who go to see the movie would be able to decide what they deem approperate based on a classification/rating system or short paragraph about the plot or both?

I'm sure that movie is being sold on streets of Malaysia for months. (VCD/DivX/PDVD)
