Since long before Dick Whittington set out to find streets paved with gold, the question as to how one goes about making one's fortune (with as little time and effort as possible) is one that has been long contemplated. The answer, however, has now been revealed: simply take an iconic series of books that no one thought could be adapted, realise them as three ground-breaking and exquisite movies and then people will literally trip over themselves to drown you in cold, hard cash.

Peter Jackson has his nest egg well in hand after securing a record-breaking salary deal for his upcoming remake of King Kong. Universal has provided the bearded director with sacks of gold to the tune of $20 million for the film as well as a 20% stake in the film's gross - a titanic sum (no pun intended) that would seem more appropriate for a pampered Hollywood star than a shorts-sporting, ex schlock-horror director from New Zealand. Jackson will share the fee with King Kong co-writers Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens but given that he lives with Walsh, the two certainly aren't going to be short of housekeeping money for the foreseeable future.

i was wondering how could he do king kong.. there will be alot of pressure not to create another Godzilla.. and after what Emmerich and Devlin did after ID4.. the suppossed hollywood top dogs at the time.. you cant have too much faith..
